The Astell & Kern AK120
The sound quality on the AK120 is lovely but the battery is likely to be close to end of life so you're going to have to find a replacement. Have you considered doing an upgrade of the hard drive on the iPod to solid-state and then running Rockbox? This will give you FLAC support and a load of...- hellnick

R5, a new Android DAP by Hiby
Seems silly answering my own question, but it might be helpful for others... Found the answer over on Poweramp forum, just enable beep or vibrate on button press (in the Headset/Bluetooth setting). Obviously beep would be insane but vibrate enabled works just fine.- hellnick

R5, a new Android DAP by Hiby
Poweramp users. Just wondering if any R5/Poweramp users have any tips on getting the control buttons (pause, prev, next) to work when the screen is off and Poweramp is running. I thought it was working fine but I might have been dreaming. Does it work for anyone else? Many thanks.- hellnick

The Astell & Kern AK120
Hi Appreciate the suggestions. I've ordered a battery from China as it has been charged on two different chargers for a few hours before I made my post, it'll take quite a few weeks to get here so I'll have to use my phone for portable music till then. Probably won't bother as my phone sounds...- hellnick

The Astell & Kern AK120
I'm writing this in the hope that someone will recognize the problem and offer a solution. My much loved AK120 appears to have died. I'd just copied a new album to it and was running a manual scan - the scan froze so I restarted the device. It switched off and won't switch back on. No power...- hellnick

Iriver H140 - is it worth fixing?
Ah, just went all nostalgic for my h120 with Rockbox - sadly dropped in the bath by my wife. I'd love to see Rockbox on my ak120 as the playlist handling was perfect.- hellnick

Charles Manson was right (about a couple things anyway) - "You know, a long time ago being crazy meant something. Nowadays everybody's crazy." No idea what Churchill or the UK and EU economy have to do with Shure's decision to delay the release of the SE846 here.- hellnick

Shure SE846 Impressions Thread
Does anyone know when the UK is going to be able to buy the 846? I know various people are selling on Ebay but I'd rather buy from an authorised Shure dealer.- hellnick

How often do you access your music using the MQS icon on the home screen? It seems like an awful lot of screen space that could be used for something else - for example, a playlists option for when iriver release a firmware with usable playlist functionality.- hellnick

The Astell & Kern AK120
Has anyone had problems with the AK120 database? I've got quite a few albums that don't show up anywhere other than folder view - not visible in Artists, Albums or Songs. I've scanned the library numerous times (with autoscan off and on), reapplied the 1.32 firmware, and removed the...- hellnick

I paid Audiothinker for an X3 via Ebay a couple months ago - there was an initial delay because they had no stock (despite them assuring me that they did when I asked if they would be able to deliver promptly). Try just deleting and reapplying the tags - I had a few "unknown" tracks that looked fine in MP3Tag but not on my 120. Reapplying fresh tags sorted it out.- hellnick

Well, the UK isn't quite a 3rd world country although our postal service seems to be heading the way of one. I can just report it to Ebay but that's a pain for the vendor and I can't imagine he'll send a replacement. Lots of hassle for all just because the delivery guy is incompetent or a thief.- hellnick
