iBasso DX160 - The listening experience only gets better and better. ******NEW FW 1.09 - link 1st page.******

That's very disappointing to say the least, there must be a way to keep WiFi awake while streaming music, now we need to rely on third party apps keeping the DX160 awake by keeping the screen on, which of course drains the battery faster.

iBasso needs to enable the major third party app developers like UAPP, Neutron and Poweramp access to the MQA unfolding part of the kernel, there are now only two options: 1. Mango player, works ok-ish but lacks streaming and UPnP support, not the mention again the missing gapless support 2...

The Tidal app is able to unfold MQA to full (2nd hardware unfold as well) so it can be done for sure, so have to agree with @alota on this.

Tidal MQA streaming doesn't work well for me, even 2 meter from the router, wifi reception is not stable on the DX160, both 2.4 and 5. So you need to download and play offline, but I like discovering new music, which can't be done offline. Apart from that I don't like Tidal's way of suggesting...

Thanks for sharing, it's unfortunate, money spent for nothing :frowning2: Apart from that still quite happy with the DX160, WiFi is causing issues, especially when using Tidal (Master )streaming, but that could be a Tidal issue as well. Annoys me enough to end my Tidal subscription....

True, but unfortunately this isn't possible for the UAPP MQA plug-in, that is an in-app purchase

Technically yes, but the DX160 struggles with WiFi reception, causing network connection errors while streaming. Better download and go offline when playing Master tracks. This is unfortunate when exploring new music, you don't want or can't download everything first.

Exactly, same on mine. So this does mean UAPP is not able to utilize the hardware MQA unfolding capabilities of the DX160, which is a shame.

You are right, even using Tidal in UAPP won't let you download files for offline playback, this can only be done within the Tidal app itself. Correct

iBasso DX160 - The listening experience only gets better and better. ******NEW FW 1.09 - link 1st page.******

Indeed. The Tidal app itself unfolds full. UAPP you can make use of inbuilt Tidal playback support (no offline/download support), but as stated above this doesn't work well for MQA/Master files, at least not in my occasion. Neutron plays SD card stored MQA files well, but no inbuilt Tidal.

I took the plunge and just ordered the UAPP MQA plug-in to test with the DX160. Comparing Tidal tracks, and left aside if I am able to hear the difference: - UAPP doesn't do the 2nd (hardware) unfold to full, same track via Tidal app unfolds to 192kHz, via UAPP it is stuck at 96kHz. - Buffering...

I haven't really decided yet. UI of UAPP is better and Tidal support is built in but MQA 2nd unfold is still unclear. Neutron does the 2nd unfold, is highly configurable, can output to Chromecast Audio but misses Tidal functionality.

It is indeed that simple: install Google Play Store via APKPure, sign in with your Google account and install all the needed apps from the Play Store. Only thing I still would like to know if the UAPP MQA plug-in will do the second hardware unfold on the DX160. If that is the case you have the...

Using Tidal Masters MQA is unfolding full on the DX160, so the ad is correct. Mango player fully unfolds MQA, so does Neutron. I am interested if UAPP with the MQA plug-in will do the same, in that case you have one player which can do it all.

I can't hear a difference between Mango or Neutron, but the extra advantages of Neutron for me are: + uPNP playback + Streaming to Chromecast Audio + Gapless playback works + Spectrum Analyzer + Highly configurable to your own liking - No Tidal playback - UI is something you need to get used...

Dropped the same question in the UAPP thread Mango Player AND Neutron, so it is doable by another app as well. I have some local MQA tracks, but mainly interested in using it with Tidal Masters

Thanks, appreciated. If you make use of Tidal it should be easy to see, it shows in the top panel what the output is (Tidal Masters mostly 192kHz) I tested with Neutron and a local MQA file, that worked as well.

@Davy Wentzler I am just about to buy the MQA add-on for the iBasso DX160. This DAP inbuilt DAC supports MQA hardware unfolding, as tested with the standard Mango player and Neutron (local files and Tidal Masters up tp 192kHz). This has been discussed back in October but time has moved on and it...

Even for a DAC which is MQA enabled? I can imagine this is this is the case for a non-MQA DAC, but in case of the DX160 I assume UUAP takes care of the first unfold (software) and that the DX160 does the 2nd (hardware) to full. Was just about to buy the MQA add-on, will ask the same question to...

It is MQA enabled indeed, but depending on the app you use it will work: - Mango player, bitperfect, plays and unfolds MQA, - Hiby, bitperfect, MQA is not unfolded - Neutron, bitperfect, plays and unfolds MQA by standard - UAPP, bitperfect, MQA unfolding will cost you extra

I know it works on the LG V phone, I don't believe this is applicable for the DX160. The buy MQA pop-up comes in when playing Tidal Masters or local MQA settings. No Hi-Res settings flagged as suggested by the app, it recognizes the DX160 internal DAC at first start up, plays bit-perfect...
