    Best PCB program under $500?

Design Spark didn't strike me as too terrible. Free and no size limitations.  I ran into problems when I was putting down switches and it kept trying to route pins that I didn't want it to touch.  Might have just been how I was using it though.

Do all the wav files ripped from different CD drivers and the same CD sound the same?

Binary equivalent means both files have the exact same data inside of them. They both represent the same frequencies/sounds/etc. They will sound the exact same as each other. Different equipment (speakers, DAC, etc) will have some effect but played on the same equipment they will be the dame...

    Best Decade for Music

As far as rock goes I still lean towards the 90's. The 80's blew except for some heavy metal (not hair metal, **** that) and a single here and there. Once the 90's hit and hair metal died out and grunge and other alternative rock/metal sounds caught on we were left with an excellent time to...

Old technologies which deserve attention and usage

Cold fusion has never been figured out. Hot fusion sure, but cold fusion is still one of those holy grailes. And bikes are only sustainable tech if you ignore how much a bike can't do and the added caloric intake the populace would need to be able to maintain a similar lifestyle.

Old technologies which deserve attention and usage

Sterling engines are still used in various applications. Mostly boats I believe. But they are quiet and efficient, so yeah, good stuff. As far as applications in cars ther are some issues that I think would need to be worked out first, like that you have to let the engine warm up and build up...

Why would you recommend that he convert them to an uncompressed digital format rather than a lossless compressed format? I'm not following the logic there.

    Leather conditioner?

I use Meguiar's leather conditioner wipes on my motorcycle leathers. Should work fine for your chair as well. They recommended the cream and not the wipes though since the wipes might dry out before you use them all up. Just don't use Silicone based stuff (I believe). Proper spelling is...

Want to build RCA Subwoofer Splitter

So possibly a stupid question, but it's on topic with splitting signals so I'm going to post here if i might.... Does the amp expect to see a certain impedence on that output line and do you need to make sure the splitter compensates? I mean if the amp expects to sub to have an impedence of 8...

What's that saying about an engineer who had one ruler and was happy because he knew how long everything was, and then he got a second ruler and was sad because he no longer was sure? I'd probably err on the side of the two that agreed with a bias towards the third (if the two agreed at 9...

    What software do you use?

Any random SPICE program and Board Layout should work for you. Orcad PSpice, SwitcherCAD (free download), 5Spice (Crippleware as I recall), and the ilk should work for SPICE. Gerber or Eagle (i don't remember the name) should work for PCB layout. I assume you aren't going to get into Chip Layout.
