Will the iDSD Pro have the three-way toggle for Solid State, Tube and Tube+? I know it was stated that it was switchable from solid state to tubes. I simply wondered about the Tube+ feature.

Or, is this simply stating that you can input up to 24/192 and DSD64, as opposed to anything higher, for the iDSD Pro to work its magic? Frankly, if this is the case, I don't see what would be the benefit of going into the iDSD Pro with anything other than 16/44.1 if one is going to upsample...

So that I understand, inputs other than USB - like RJ45 - cannot be upsampled, and all of the settings do not apply? So, if I have a 16/44.1 signal coming in, the iDSD Pro will just play it, but no DSD remastering and no upsampling to 16xCD, correct?

So, if I have this correct, one can plug in a direct RJ45 LAN line into the iDSD Pro? If this is true, it would seem to me that if one uses UPnP bridge in let's say, a headless computer, like the SonicTransporter, then one can control the music via Roon, straight into the iDSD Pro via a LAN...

I'm still interested in this. I've gone through a Chord DAVE and a Linn KDS/3 between when this was first announced and today. I'm currently using the Linn, which I'm happy with, but the iDSD Pro might be a bargain compared, as iFi always is. All of this and switchable between tubes and SS...

I haven't heard the 7XRS, but I have heard the Omega CAMs with the DAVE driven directly. I got a really, really pure sound out of the combo; however, they were very limited in choice of music. Only have the DAVE drive 8ohm speakers, though. Anything lower is verboten.

Cary DAC-200TS? Antelope Zodiac Platinum? Not really, huh? NuPrime DAC-9? A strange beast. Of course massive upsampling doesn't tell the whole story by far. It's all in the implementation.

So really, all joking aside (unlike before), I've looked, but I can see only one "DAC" that had upsampled 16x RBCD before the DAVE+ Blu2 combo. Anybody know of any others? It's one thing to play a large sample rate; it's quite another to upsample in a box like Blu2 does.

We're likely talking about older recordings of certain genres where mic placement during the recording lent itself more to a greater sense of depth, which translates to a more 3D image today.

Is the Blu2 the first to upsample to 768kHz? Not a device that will play that sample rate, but just the upscaling part?

How big is you room, though? I felt for my 12x12x8 room that 100w was way enough to handle anything I thew at it. That said, I haven't tried it with my new DAC yet.

I'm sure the Blu2 has more resolution, but you're right, when they trot out these old chestnuts, with very sparase arrangements, it doesn't show much more than we already know, the less instruments the better it sounds, unless you have a super resolving DAC. I would rather a lot of instruments...

...and I did try it, and now I'm going to own it. @Torq is right. I don't know how it could get much better than the Linn Klimax. Actually I bought the DS model, because all I need is the RCA and XLR outs.

This has been a great thread, though. Really the gold standard from a person who has taken noble quest. It must have been exhausting. In other new, I heard that the Linn Klimax DSM/3 might be the end-game DAC for some. Pretty lofty heights! I'm sure it's a great DAC (I might have to try it). :)
