That is a weirdly low price for a genuine AD708SQ. I read that utsource sometimes sends fake parts, but you can always try them. I bought the Golden V4i, which are supposed to be comparable to the Bursons. I like the AD's better. If you want you can buy my Golden V4i's. As I too live in the...- daanh

I tried similar opamps (Golden v4i) and I found it way too bassy and warm. Love the AD708SQ, I assume the AD827SQ is similar and cheaper.- daanh

Some Fostex questions
I can't believe the difference these rings make. The tr-x00 pads with the ring sewn in sound very warm and full, with tight bass. My AHG pads without a ring sound airy and open but also maybe a bit fatiguing with the V-shape. It's hard to choose, it also depends on the recording.- daanh

This is also my experience. Carrying my phone on the opposite side of my body will sometimes give dropouts with the XD05-BAL.- daanh

Are you shure that that balanced cable is not the problem? If the connector is soldered wrong this would happen. Ok, you wrote you tried multiple cables... I would give the XD-05 a third chance.- daanh

Some Fostex questions
Sorry, I just can't image any other reason for what you said: "TR-X00 were not know for their SQ comparing to TH600". They have wooden cups and same driver... How could they sound worse?? The TH-600 had some dampening material in it, while the TR-X00 was empty. Maybe that plays some role?- daanh

Some Fostex questions
Thanks for the replies. What do you mean when you say that I should have made the effort? I got the TR-X00 for 300 euros, it would be more expensive to fully repair my TH-600. Yes, I mean those Dekoni rings. The shipping cost is very high to the Netherlands, so I would have to cut those...- daanh

Some Fostex questions
Hi, Happy owner of a Fostex TH-600 and tr-x00, paired with an Xduoo BAL. I read about these aftermarket attenuation rings that you can use to tune a headphone. Is this a Fostex thing, or do all headphones have this? How are these supposed to work? Aldo I wonder if the drivers of the...- daanh

Fostex TH600 Dynamic Headphones
Hi, I read about these attenuation rings that you can slip between the pads and the phones. How are they supposed to work? I can't imagine paying money for something that you can easily cut out yourself, but I'm curious. Thanks, Daan- daanh

I just tried the Golden V4i, and really hated it. With my Fostex, the bass got very woolly. Yuk. I'm really, really happy with the sound of the AD708SQ. I got lucky, because 80 euros a piece is a lot of money. The stock chips are not that bad. The owner of this ebay shop in the link above...- daanh

Massdrop Fostex TH-X00 Ebony impressions thread
Hi, I wonder if the drivers of the Massdrop Fostexes are really the same as the TH-600 ones. I have a very well used TH-600 with some different aftermarket pads and got a TR-X00. The latter was louder, had more mids and sounded less hifi than the TH-600. I took the drivers from the TH-600 and...- daanh

Hi, I'm thinking about also ordering a second opamp set to compare with the AD708SQ, mainly in case it could be too bright for my taste. Is this V4i-D a Burson chip? If I try to find this online, I get ebay hits listing this as a Muses: https://www.ebay.com/itm/263918372324 Edit: found the...- daanh

RSA Amps outdated? #raysamuelsaudio
The intruder is also a DAC, that I hooked up to my mobile phone or Bluetooth reciever. It sounded great with my Fostex TH-600, especially balanced. I hope to find an equally good sounding new dac/amp with built in Bluetooth. Buying a second-hand Intruder is not a option I look forward to...- daanh

Hah, I had already ordered two from a Greek supplier on Ebay for 17 euro apiece. Upon asking wether this is a genuine AD opamp, he replied that it is indeed genuine, and that they made an error and corrected the price to 81 euro per piece. He is still going to send me the two ordered items at...- daanh

Hi, I'm interested in trying this opamp when my Xduoo arrives. Any tips on where to get them? I see a widely different price for these: $67 at Digipart, $107 at Componentsense and from $17 from Ebay. That's a pretty big range. Are there non-genuine opamps which to avoid? Thanks! I tried the...- daanh

Where to start?
Since you're converting all your music to an Apple format, I don't think it's advisable to get a DAP. Exporting an itunes library isn't something that's likely easy. If I were you I would try out a dac/amp that's compatible with an ipod, see if that changes the sound for the better.- daanh

Portable DAC/Preamp for Fostex TH-600
Hi, I have a Fostex TH-600, that I used to drive with a RSA Intuder hooked to a Sound Blaster Bluetooth DAC. I loved the sound, especially balanced, but it was a hefty package and I switched to noise-cancelling Sony's for traveling by bus. I listen to all kinds of music, mostly pop/rock/indie...- daanh

Portable balanced dac/amp for Fostex TH-600
Hi Ifi, thanks for your reply. I don't really get it yet. In your s-balanced system there is no inverted signal. The minus pole of one side of the headphone seems to go to ground. How is this balanced? Your Gryphon also seems interesting. Does this also use s-balanced? Thanks, Daan- daanh
