Question about the Sennheiser IE 80

Hello :)    I intend to buy myself a pair of Sennheiser IE 80s. I am thinking of using them with both my computer( via a NuForce DAC/AMP ) and my phone - currently the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. My question is this - whether my phone is going to have any problem powering those... If anyone has...

    Is anyone around into Djent?

Of course, absolutely! Started listening to those guys when they were still in their pre-debut album phase. The first album is great! Normally vocals in djent are almost always a HUGE mistake, but Vildhjarta are an exception to that.

    Is anyone around into Djent?

What the title says. My closest friend and I are very much into this specific type of Metal. It pretty much emerged over the past few years, and has been developing steadily ever since.     One of my favorite pieces off the new album of Shades of Black. Lovely djenty groove all around!  ...

$500 Budget for Headphones, please help!

Attaboy! I was gonna suggest the HD650s too, great to know you got them and you're enjoying them!

External DAC instead of sound card?

Pretty simple. If you're into music more than into games, I'd recommend something like the Asus Xonar Essence line ( ST and STX, not a fan of external DACs ). That's kind of the perfect middle ground - you got both Dolby surround and superb quality audio.

Isabellina HPA - Owner's Thread and Impressions

Got a question about the Isabellina. Had a hard time time locating the answer, so I shall ask anyways:   Does it have software drivers to go with it, or does it work straight out of the box, hooked up to the PC? Also, does it support ASIO/WASAPI?

    Portable Amp for HD800

I saw somebody recommending a Zana Deux in another thread. Hadn't even heard about it, but the person was very enthusiastic about it. Perhaps you should research that one.

    Why the Beats Hate?

Not my type of aesthetic, and if they do have any audible layer of hiss at all, that's enough to throw them in the bin for me, at least. Plus, I doubt they are comfier than HD800.

Insane Question! Using Headphones for watching movies?

What's the point of having great phones if you're not gonna use them? Why would you limit yourself to music only? As long as you got the appropriate setup, go for movies, go for games, if you're into them - the sky's the limit.   I actually enjoy listening to music WHILE playing games, or...

    Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

I think loving certain headphones is heavily based on how your life has been when you've been really into them. Pretty much the best years of my life so far have walked around hand in hand with the HD650, so I will never really forget 'em, even though I got HD800 now. The emotional imprint is...

Do I still need a DAC when I will just be listening off Spotify ? (No FLAC)

Well, a DAC's always great to have, no matter how crappy your source might be. All boils down to what your own standards are.   Try listening to the same piece on Spotify and to its FLAC version and hear it for yourself.

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

Not really an impression, as I've never had the chance to try them, but I got a question:   Are they really that power-hungry and tough to drive properly? Would be good to know if I happen to decide to switch sometime in the future.

Is it worth getting really high-end headphones if your source is 320kbps audio files?

Absolutely, 190 %. What matters the most is the hardware, a.k.a. the phones and chain leading to them. As someone before me said, very little, if anything audible, is lost in the transition from lossless to 320 kbps. Trust me, you'll be in sonic heaven with even less than 320 kbps, if the...

    ASUS Xonar Essence STX II

Muses stock opamps? Sounds sweet. I wonder when it's coming out...   Asus seem to be following up on the success of the Essence One...

ALO Audio RXMKIII Balanced Portable Amplifier Impressions

I used to have HD650 a few years ago. Would you say they synergize with the MKIII better than the HD800? Would love to test it out first prior to purchase, but I am half the planet away from those ALO guys...

    A $2,650. HDMI cable, seriously?

O_o.....   This is just ridiculous. Especially the first comment on Amazon:   "I was going to buy a $2.82 hdmi cable on amazon and then I came across this masterpiece, and I knew I had to do whatever it takes to get it. The best part is I dont even own a tv, I plugged this thing into 2...

    Repairing damaged hd800 cables

That sounds pretty bad. Can't imagine how annoying that might be, mate.   I got mine a month and a half ago and the stock cable does seem rather flimsy, around the interconnects. Guess aftermarket cables are what you'd have to go for, since I doubt you can fix the wiring yourself.  ...

The best headphones in the world

I'd love to be able to check out the Orpheus and the Stax someday. Not that far ahead, regrettably, just yet, and here in Bulgaria we hardly even have a place where I can have a listen to those.   Heck, I don't even think someone has them, though I could be wrong. Planning on spending a couple...

Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones Part II

When I bought my HD800s in the beginning of February, all my friends were like "Are you out of your mind, I'd never drop that much cash on ******* headphones". Most of them were more like, shocked, rather than impressed ( not that I bought the phones to impress anyone, we all know it's not about...
