AirPods Max
Can anyone please recommend an under-desk hook for these? The headband shape doesn't look like it will fit/hang from anything I own or have run across previously.- SamS

AirPods Max
It's a relatively new feature, and available on content that already has a surround codec. I guess they're targeting me? I've spent more than this on a pair of headphones in the past, and at $549 it's a lot cheaper than the Apple computers/iPads/iPhones I would normally buy :)- SamS

AirPods Max
Apple's Spatial Audio tech is available today via AirPods Pro, which I have, and experienced. Somehow, it "centers" the video soundstage based on the relative position of the screen you're viewing. So when you turn your head slightly, the soundstage stays locked to the screen position. It also...- SamS

AirPods Max
I have lots of $100-$250 headphones (and nicer ones, too). The AirPods Max don't compete with those. I plan on using them for extended sessions on my Mac, as well as watching content on my iPads, and even AppleTV. Spatial audio from Apple is mind-blowing.- SamS

Microsoft's Surface Headphones
Can't say I've tried that... My iPhone doesn't have a regular headphone jack, and if I'm going to be next to one of my actual/regular headphone amps, I'll use a regular set of cans ;) Although these are comfortable enough, and I think neutral enough, to be considered for regular duty, in...- SamS

With the EQ/app, I feel I have a neutral sound. My reference are the OPPO PM-1 + OPPO HA-1. I'm always a 'flat' kinda guy. The only thing I actually use EQ on is these Surface headphones, in attempt to get them 'neutral', ha.- SamS

I haven’t watched much video with them, outside of the occasional YouTube. I don’t recall any delay that was distracting.- SamS

Microsoft's Surface Headphones
Not in my opinion. Normally, I'm "lossless everything". My library is 30K+ FLAC tracks including some hi-rez. My normal headphones (for serious listening) are the OPPO PM-1 with the HA-1 amp. Since you already have some noise-cancelling voodoo going on, purity of lossless would be wasted. The...- SamS

I personally think the treble is perfect at the default settings. But I do realize a lot people prefer a bit of a boost. Sure, the app EQ can brighten things up. Not sure how to quantify this for you, I don’t know the fr range it’s impacting.- SamS

Earlier today, these were $261 via Amazon (sold and fulfilled by), which is a total steal! Not sure if they'll come back at that price, but some of you might want to keep an eye out.- SamS

Surprised no one else has tried these? I took a business trip last week, 3 hour flight each way. I wore the Surface headphones the entire flight, with no fatigue at all. After spending more time with them, the two most impressive things are the comfort, and the midrange. The mids are much...- SamS

Some further thoughts after spending a few days with them: It is interesting (to me, at least) that these have two bluetooth connections between the headphones and the paired device. One is the standard Bluetooth 4.2 for receiving audio, the other is Bluetooth LE (Low Energy) for...- SamS

Here are some initial impressions: Design/ergonomics: They are overall very comfortable. I've only worn them for about 1 hour at a time, and they may be a *tiny* bit on the tight side. I think they're well suited for on-the-go listening. The ear cups are crazy comfy! The fit and finish is very...- SamS

:dt880smile: Well, apparently I was the first person to buy these in the Dallas Microsoft store. So I was getting a lot of attention from the store staff. They asked me to pose for a picture, etc. So, I asked them if they had “anything special” for me since I was the guinea pig. A nice fellow...- SamS

Yes I’ve looked into those. I’ll try to give them a listen. Half of my motivation is pure curiosity about the R&D and tech Microsoft dumped into these. It’s often amazing what can happen when you throw virtually unlimited resources into something as basic as headphones. Currently I use...- SamS

Well all things considered, I'm inclined to believe that the least amount of noise cancellation (to get the job done) is probably the best. Least amount of potential sonic artifacts, etc. There are cases where you might prefer maximum (actually in the airplane flying), vs. 'half way' - maybe...- SamS

Thanks guys. The Paradoxes definitely seem interesting. However, today I got a bit impatient and pulled the trigger on a new pair of Audio-Technica ATH-A900X for $129 via eBay deal-of-the-day. Plus I had some eBay bucks set to expire soon ;) If I hate them, I'm not out too much money...and can...- SamS
