The cchd-575 on the Amanero board of the r2r 11 really takes it to the next level, can't believe how good it is.

Seems easier to have NOS sound right. I really enjoy dedicated NOS DAC more than the NOS mode of a dac that does both. I slightly prefer OS in this case. NOS in its purest form will exhibit quantization errors. Which are random, so spreads in the whole freq range. So you need to apply a filter...

Interesting stuff. I think that when you get rid of the high-freq noise disturbing the dac's performance, especially in Os8 mode, the glare is also almost inexistant. I think there is nothing especially wrong with overampling, it's just that playing at a high-frequency requires better isolation...

    Yeah, it probably is.

Yes indeed. I just did the maths again. No processing is a 3db attenuation at 20khz. Was a bit tough, i had to remember the basics. Getting old. :) Same story with the r1-nos. You can't get a flat response within 0.5dB without processing. Nor a 110S/N ratio playing 16-bit files.

You dac needs only a few hours IMO to reach a stable sound. It's not what it used to be. The boards have been updated since the 1st gen. The DA8 board(what you have) never needed much warming up anyway . The old da7 needed quite some time. About 24h.

    New Audio-gd R-7, R-7HE R-8, R-27, R-27HE, R-28 Flagship Resistor Ladder DACs and DAC/amps

No hot connection of the usb blaster of course. And setting up for updates can be a real pain.

    New Audio-gd R-7, R-7HE R-8, R-27, R-27HE, R-28 Flagship Resistor Ladder DACs and DAC/amps

Kingwa told me to try this once. There is no danger to doing this if you have an update port.

They don't do anything. I don't agree with @sajunky. I think NOS does processing. And OS0 none. But ask Kingwa. :) In both cases the sampling rate remains the incoming one of course.

Yes. But no processing applied can sound more transparent. I prefer NOS, it is better balanced. In 2021, I think there was no distinction between the nos settings.

Os0 is no processing at all so it should miss some highs. Nos has equalization done in the digital domain. The nos submodes are no longer existant so if you have a recent fw, this setting makes no difference.

    New Audio-gd R-7, R-7HE R-8, R-27, R-27HE, R-28 Flagship Resistor Ladder DACs and DAC/amps

Of course, the damage must not have been caused by the user. Maybe the previous owner did some mods. Anyway, let us know if the fw update works.

    New Audio-gd R-7, R-7HE R-8, R-27, R-27HE, R-28 Flagship Resistor Ladder DACs and DAC/amps

Audio-gd should cover the repair except shipping i believe. If damage is not caused by the user. The Music Room has also maybe sort of coverage.

    New Audio-gd R-7, R-7HE R-8, R-27, R-27HE, R-28 Flagship Resistor Ladder DACs and DAC/amps

Well it could be an easy fix. Hot connecting optical is no problem. But coax or i2s can create issues.

    New Audio-gd R-7, R-7HE R-8, R-27, R-27HE, R-28 Flagship Resistor Ladder DACs and DAC/amps

An issue can occur when you hot connect cables,.especially i2s. You can try to re-flash the fw. You will need a usb blaster.

    Audio-gd DI24/DI24HE

I had the opposite experience with my top of the line Geisemann Eva. It only makes sense. But the lower grades can possibly benefit from noise reduction.

I had the Singxer f1. Usually, people favor audio - gd over Singxer. A di24 or used di20 would certainly be an upgrade.

Yep. Got one of these. Really really good if you are familiar with the Rasberry pi. Some say on a French forum it puts to shame 3K streamers.

It not reclocking per say, but rather clocking from scratch and indeed a ddc makes less of a difference (marginal, most often) in this case. It still act as an isolator from the PC.

    Audio-GD Master 9

The Master-9 mkiii is stated to have to gain mode to handle high-sensistivity cans more adequately. The other concern is with the noise floor. I can try the he9 mkii with my own IEM when i have a minute.

Not all ddcs will improve things drastically. One will if its clocks are excellent. The r2r 11 is a synchronous/reclocking dac. It can't really removed all low frequency phase noise. Using an spdif signal out of a well clocked and silent ddc, the dac will be able to handle the rest of the phase...

Like the di24/he or di20/he. These work really well with a r2r 11/mkii. DDC stands for digital to digital converter. So it takes usb audio and converts it to spdif. It isolates from the computer and outputs a spdif or i2s signal with very low jitter. The Audio-gd nos dacs benefit a lot from a...

As @sajunky mentioned, I have the original r2r 11 at my remote office. I recently replaced the clocks on the Amanero for Crystek cchd-575s. This make the r2r 11 sound crazy good. Also, if you do no use a DDC on yours, it is a good upgrade path as well. The r28 is a very good combo, even better...
