Any comparison between the oppo and the fostex? I don't know through what heaphones you hear them though. I am more interested pairing them with the HD 800

Does it take aw I am interested in using this dac/amp with the hd 800 too. Is this combination fatiguing at all? Any other dac/amps you got as reference?

    I think V-Moda would very much be of my liking, and I must try them/buy them sometime in the future. Thing is I already have a closed headphone and I would like to experience an open one. Good choice though

No I don;t mind at all :)   Actually it is more about getting to know similar headphones that are alternatives to the X1. But the earpads are an issue to  me. I have for example the K171 for years and the pads and cable were destroyed over time. I just changed those and voila. Like new :)  ...
