I got my Denon D7100 and found a comparable loudness and sound signature to M50. With much more mids and a bit more treble. Same lovely deep bass impact. Work well on mobile sources. M50 is still great but it have nothing against the Denon.  

I get my D7100 today and listen nearly 3h since then. They worked as loud as M50 on mobile device (5g). This is much louder as many of you can bear. For me, it is just fantastic to have some db left.   Above you can see my journey through headphone world. Nothing come close to the sound...

Same here - I can buy on this rate another pair M50.  

Today demo again Momentum, 1R, Fidelio X1 and K551dj. All so far away from M50 sound.   I press the button to a freshly boxed D7100. Can´t get them demo around me. Hope that was wise...   Will be here approx 14 days.   End of this month I am able to buy another pair Denon (D600...

Senns Momentum and Amperior great cans. SQ is as you described. I prefer a more bassy sound. HD 25 -1 can be a good choice. Many said the HD25 is just a side step to M50. Tiesto K267?  Don´t know anything about it, yet. With 32 Ohm it should be driven easily very loud on a Ipod. It is...

THX Shane, I came to nearly the same conclusion. Therefore the D2000/D5000/D7000 is not any more avaiable I will give the D600 (D2000 successor) a chance. Hope to find soon a Denon dealer for listening comparision (D600 vs. D7100). Only the V-Moda M100 holds me back to pull the trigger...

This thread goes on and on. I am not fully satisfied with the M50 sound and looking after an upgrade. But still find no more lovely sound signature then M50 until now.

Crinacle do a review between M50 and 580. HFI-580 seems to have a better sound quality, what I prefer, but Vocals " sound somewhat metallic and lifeless, and slightly thin too.". Did you make the same experience?   

Good proposal, seems they are all (without HFI-780) loud enough by driven from Ipod.   Shure SRH-440 is 44 Ohm / 105db . Ultrasone HFI 580 is 32 Ohm / 101db Ultrasone HFI-780 is 35 Ohm / 96db   Nearly the same as M50 with 38 Ohm /99 db. Can you compare their sound signature to M50?
