What are you guys using for wireless audio??

What are you guys using for wireless audio??  What I want to do is to stream music over wifi to my stereo.  Must have digital outputs, either spdif or toslink to go into my dacmagic.  The apple airport express seems like nicely packaged, simple solution for the job.  Are there any else I should...

Apple Airport Express - Streaming Spdif

Thanks for the feedback. So it looks like this theoretically works, but the execution is not so flawless. Can anyone else comment on wireless devices with toslink or spdif outputs? I would be very excited to find another low cost solution.

    Cambridge Dac Magic for PC

My DacMagic has transformed my computer into a very respectable hifi source. Many people spend a ton more on CD players, the DacMagic is extremely versatile, often I'll connect it to my old cd player and it works wonderfully with spdif or toslink inputs. Heck, even disconnect it from your...

Apple Airport Express - Streaming Spdif

Anyone have any experience using the Apple Airport Express to stream music? I have a Cambridge Audio DacMagic and I would love to not have my computer tethered to it via USB. I haven't looked extensively at other options yet, but this appears to be a fairly inexpensive solution to getting...

Strange issue with Little Dot MKIII

If the deoxit doesn't work, try tube rolling. With the stock driver tubes I always had a quiet high pitched sibilance noise that would fade in and our from time to time. Thought the whole time it was dirty contacts, got some mullard driver tubes and it is now dead quiet.

Little Dot Mk III technical questions

I emailed David, here is his reply: Hello Ryan, Great to hear from you! It looks like you've been doing some great research. Regarding your inquiry, the Little Dots in question run in Class-A and you don't have to worry about manually biasing as all Little Dots are self-biasing. I...

    Little Dot MKIII Tube Rolling

Can anyone comment on the sound of soviet tubes? I found this site: 6J1P-EV / EF95 / 6F32 / 6AK7 Russian pentode tube Prices look pretty good, I haven't tried any tube rolling yet.

Little Dot Mk III technical questions

I've been reading a bit more about amplifiers and had a few questions relating the to the Little Dot Mk III I've now owned for the past 8 months. 1. I've heard the design of this amp (and the Mk IV) is Single Ended Push Pull. Does that mean that the Driver tubes run in class A and the Power...

    IEM's with extended treble?

UE SF 5 pro's, listed in my first post. Sorry, i've been real lazy about updating my profile. I use them with an 80gb Apple Ipod classic. My home setup is Senn 580's with a stock Little dot mk III. My comparisons however were strictly using the ipod source, alternating between the senn and UE...

    IEM's with extended treble?

So it sounds like another good solution would maybe be a hybrid IEM? Dynamic driver for highs, balanced armature for lows? It just amazes me that people are willing to pay so much for sound that is essentially flawed in a very noticeable way. My IEMs are convenient, block noise and sound good...

    IEM's with extended treble?

I've been using my SF 5 pro's for a several months now, and while i'm very happy with them and the improvements they make in my everyday life, I spent last night listening to my Sennheiser 580/Little Dot mk III setup last night and was spellbound by the differences between the sound...

How do they work? UE super.fi 5 pro armatures

Thanks, I sort of answered my own question too, after looking at the triple.fi made in china? thread. I was unaware that there are really only two manufacturers of balanced armatures: sonion and knowles. The sonion site has a nice diagram here: Balanced Armature - Sonion And Knowles has a...

How do they work? UE super.fi 5 pro armatures

I'm familiar with how dynamic driver units work, but what are armature drivers and how do they work exactly? I was reading a description the other day that said the UE's essentially worked by the vibrations of a small pin bumping against something else I can't remember. Could anyone...

    Broken socket on my hd650

If they're like my sennheiser 580's, the plugs need to be pressed in pretty far to click. I had been getting an intermittent connection too. Otherwise, if you're careful, you can pry the cover off the side and look at the driver itself to see if the springs are fine. The connections in my 580...

I want my first SLR camera

You're right, I misspoke. It was this lens' predecessor I was speaking of. The prices I'm seeing are actually showing this lens (new) being more expensive than the 70-200. Personally, I'd still go for the "L" lens.

And remember to always shoot RAW. This image was shot at 3200 iso on my 20d and was underexposed about two stops. Thanks to raw editing, this image looks great as a 12x18.

I want my first SLR camera

Photography is my other main hobby, so I feel pretty confident saying to people to not waste their time with film. I'll probably receive a lot of flak for this, but film is very time consuming, requires a far more complicated setup for making prints and ultimately if you shoot enough is much...

From CD to SACD how much of difference

I don't know if this is relevant, or even how sound reproduction actually works, but I'm throwing it out here to see what people say. Nyquist theory applies to all waves, not just sound. Here is an image I'm posting that visually depicts my concerns for the theory. Image hosted with...
