I've been looking for a new open headphone and these are really tempting me. I've never had a complete desktop setup, so I'm wondering if anyone has an opinion on why I should or shouldn't go with the following setup: Xonar DG -optical-> Schiit Modi 2 Uber -RCA-> Beyerdynamic A20 -> DT 1990 Pro

I've been waiting for a smaller DAP to pair with my e12. The x3 and x5 are great and all but because they are designed to be all-in-one devices they add unnecessary bulk if you want to pair them with an amp. I just hope sound quality is a top priority. All the other concessions of the device...

I have the DT 770 pro 250 ohms and there seems to be little information and a lot of misconception in this thread and on these forums in general about this particular model.   The 770s have gotten a reputation for being "bass monsters" and having a sucked out mid range. Maybe this is true...

Meh. I already have an e12. I don't need a DAP with an e17 amp stuffed inside it. I don't see why they're doing the same thing twice with the x3 and x5. A thinner, smaller DAP with a line-out would better satisfy the many people who already have portable amps.

Looking for something affordable with a line out and flac support to pair my e12. Sound quality if obviously a high priority. A rockboxed Ipod classic 7g seems like a possibility. The DX50 looks nice but might be too pricy. Any other options?

Any plans for a DAP without an amp? A thinner version to pair up with my e12 would be great.

Plug directly into the sound card and use DH-1. DH-2 and 3 try to artificially boost the soundstage reducing sound quality. DH-1 sounds closest to stereo while still giving you proper surround sound.
