The New HIBY R3 II is here. 4.4MM Jack; Improved Sound and Bluetooth.

Does the R3II support inline microphone? It would be nice to have microphone support when connected via Bluetooth to make it full fledged Bluetooth receiver.

FIIO Q15 DAC and Headphone Amplifier Discussion & Impressions Thread

Hi @FiiO Willson I'm eagerly waiting for AK4499ex player from Fiio, since FiiO has implemented it in the Q15, is FiiO planning to release a player with this dac? I would purchase a FiiO DAP with Q15 DAC/AMP.

The New HIBY R3 II is here. 4.4MM Jack; Improved Sound and Bluetooth.

Hi, I plan to purchase the R3ii to replace my Fiio btr5 2021. I'd like to not miss calls when listening to music (especially when commuting), which won't happen using btr5 because playback will pause when connected to phone. Does HibyLink forward information about calls (or notifications) from...

[FiiO M17] Dual ES9038PRO, dual THXAAA-788+, dual power supplies, 9200mAh battery, 2 volume control modes

Well it doesn't look plausible that AK4499ex gets included in Hiby R6, a midrange device as the previous series used the Q2M version of ES9038. Shanling has made the H7, but that's a "screenless" DAP (more like a DAC). Not being an android player really limits its versatility. I'd really...

[FiiO M17] Dual ES9038PRO, dual THXAAA-788+, dual power supplies, 9200mAh battery, 2 volume control modes

@FiiO Willson any chance Fiio is working on a new upgrade of M17 with AKM AK4499ex? I love all specs of M17 but I'm holding out for a AK4499ex DAP.

HiBy RS6 Android DAP - Snapdragon 660, 4+64GB, 5” full HD, Darwin R2R, FIR, NOS, MQA 16x, copper chassis

@DBaldock9 Hi I see that you own the Zishan AK4497. Although it's not on the same "league", how would you compare the Zishan with AK4497 you own with the Hiby RS6? I have a Zishan with AK4499, I'm curious how much of an "upgrade" it would be. I had the lucky chance to listen to a R2R CD player...

Cayin N8ii: The Incredible DAP with ROHM DAC and fully BAL Nutube

@Andykong I was not looking into DAPs until I read up about the R01 for N6ii and was immediately interested. But I was not yet purchasing since the player model (and Android version) is quite old by now, so I was hoping I can see R2R DAC in the N8ii. But the N8ii isn't using R2R and it won't...

    UiiSii impressions thread

It's been a while since this was asked. Well now I've been listening to Etymotic ER2XR for a while. The Etys are better in almost all respects but comfort when ised for sleeping. The CM5 is on my desk for those moments when the Etys are in my bag and I can't be bothered to reach it. Still...

ORA GrapheneQ - The world's first Graphene driver headphone

Would you say that the there is something about the bass of ORA that is unique or unmatched by other headphones? The unique bass quality is great enough to offset the unusual (or some would say, downright ugly) frequency response and make you decide that the ORA is going to stay?

Thank you for sharing this. Looking at the graphs, this headphone looks like a pass for me.

ORA GrapheneQ - The world's first Graphene driver headphone

Well, that doesn't sound like a flaship-killer to me. What you mean with low end hump with midbass valley, is it like big sub bass with smaller midbass that doesn't interfere with mids/highs?

ORA GrapheneQ - The world's first Graphene driver headphone

I've been reading much of this thread, can anyone help with some more detailed sound review with comparison this to some well known greats in each categories such as the Sennheiser HD650, AKG K712 (conventional) or Audeze LCD X (planar)?

    The Zishan dsd's corner

I have an 4499 Zishan. I read somewhere in this thread that the digital board supplies 3.3v to power the entire analog board (to MP1542). If that's the case, we're basically regulating from battery's V+ down to 3.3V before it's regulated up by the MP1542. Is it possible to connect the 3.3v...

Usage of XL6009 voltage regulator for audio DAC/amplifier power source

@ericj thank you for the remarks, I agree with you. I've seen some modules using that IC to use adequate heat sink, probably really important to take heat dissipation into account. But just for a DAC or headphone amplifier, current draw probably will never exceed 0.2A.

Usage of XL6009 voltage regulator for audio DAC/amplifier power source

That'd be a 4 years response, wow. I haven't been able to successfully build the DAC. But I've build the O2 headphone amplifier by using 4 LiIon battery in series, and that enables "real ground" between two batteries. I got more than 30 hours run time with this setup. If I have time I'll...

    Takstar HF 580 Planar Headphones

I listen to quite a broad genre, my regular music includes blues like Norah Jones, rock music like Queen, classical music (orchestral & chamber). But I'd be happy with your standard listening test playlist, I believe comparison using music you're more familiar with leads to better and more...

Yes, @theangelboy, would you please share how you compare X00 and HF580. I was asking for comparison with TH900 as a proxy to X00's sound.

    The Zishan dsd's corner

I've used this with great result on my Zishan AK4497 single. You might want to try it, quite a cheaper op-amp to the Burson. https://a.aliexpress.com/_d7nhQWo

    The Zishan dsd's corner

Hi @DBaldock9 @maxifuny and others who has 4497 and 4499, can you share how these two players differ in sound? I've my 4497 modded to remove the resistor for the unbalanced headphone out (I don't use the balanced output). I'm curious if the 4499 is a worthy upgrade.

Does anyone has download link for the newest firmware version? The link in the OP does not work anymore (at least for me).

    The Zishan dsd's corner

I think it's not that way. AK4497 is current output, where the Vrms is created in I/V stage. On LPF stage, you can adjust gain before being fed to your added current buffer, which might be possible assuming you can fit it inside the player.

    The Zishan dsd's corner

Hi everyone. I have just received my DSD AK4497 yesterday and this is my first post in the thread. Having assembled the NwAvGuy O2, I was still loving its sound. I build it twice, once with PCB, second with point to point, both with changing battery into 4s Li-ion in series delivering 20+ hours...
