Ending the LOUDNESS WARS!!!!!
I imagine it would be quite irksome if one owned high end audio equipment, a very high quality cd player etc, only to be playing incredibly compressed overly loud masters on it. Release cd's as audiophile masters, and release ipod junk as compressed overly loud garbage, that way everyone... -

Joe, starring Nicholas Cage, about a troubled guy who wants to do the right thing but has issues and can end up screwing things up for himself, like self destructive stuff etc. I dont' want to say too much about it, it was worth watching, was interesting, would watch it again definitely. Seiko is a great watch
Analog watches are the best... you can see what time it is, what time it was, and what time it's going to be. Smart phones and tablets, pah. You can't beat the simple elegance of a good wrist watch. And what are you going to do when your smart phone battery runs out? You're going to ask a...- Seifer01

What's Your Alcoholic Drink of Choice? // Drink Discussion
Good beer, preferably German, Franziskaner Hefe-Weissbier is very good. When I just want to chill out with a movie I'll have a few bottles of Budvar Budweiser with a giant packet of southern barbecue crisps.- Seifer01

Top Gear
I've been a long time fan of the show. All good things must come to an end I suppose, it's just a shame it came to an end prematurely thanks to that ignorant but very entertaining oaf Clarkson. You just can't go around punching people, not even if you're Clarkson. Why didn't the producer just...- Seifer01

What are your most overall favorite games to play on Playstation 3 (PS3)?
I had loads of fun with Dirt 2, single player and multiplayer. I really enjoyed Mass Effect. Batman Arkham Asylum was great. Great graphics, great story, great gameplay. Dead Space, excellent, very atmospheric, good story and premise. Haunted house in space kinda deal. Another game that is...- Seifer01

Best classical recordings...ever!
Thanks :) That CD kind of looks like it would be rare for some reason lol. What is the availability of this disc? And the ones above for that matter? I like finding older discs, I bought a Star Wars Trilogy disc the other day (1990 Sony) the sound is excellent. It sounds much better than The... -
Best classical recordings...ever!
Thanks for these suggestions, now I can begin to properly ween myself off Beethoven haha. I started getting into classical a couple of years ago. My first classical purchase was Fricsay's 1958 Beethoven 9th. Now I have a few Beethoven discs... From Karajan, Fricsay... -
Best classical recordings...ever!
Maybe they went with Lenny because he was American. Nothing screams "The West" more than the USA. Bringing down the wall and ringing in the freedom is pretty American I reckon, lol. On the subject of Lenny, I'm fairly new to classical and I don't yet have a Bernstein CD, can anyone recommend me... -
*Official Schiit Magni/Modi 2 ( Uber ) Thread*
Okay, cheers peeps. I'll just get the Magni 2 Uber for now and I'll look at other options at a later date. I'm relatively new to headphone amps and stuff. I've used hifi stacks and mini systems, boomboxes, ipods, etc. over the years, so I'm not used to DAC's and transports and all that. It...- Seifer01

*Official Schiit Magni/Modi 2 ( Uber ) Thread*
I'm going to buy a Magni 2 Uber, and plug my CDP (Marantz CD 5004) straight into its input. Will adding the DAC make a massive difference? Also how does a CDP, Amp, DAC combo work? Will a CDP and Magni 2 sound good?- Seifer01

Integrated amp + headphones, questions.
Yeah ease of use is a priority. I just want a nice setup that I can easily switch between speaker listening and headphone listening. Right now I'm concentrating on the headphone part of it. I know someone with a pretty good setup, Nad stuff, pre amp, power amp, etc, Marantz CDP, Mordaunt...- Seifer01

Dynamic Range of CDs (examples)
I have a Depeche Mode CD I bought recently, Construction Time Again. It says Canada on the rear cover, but has the same codes as the USA pressing, so I presume the Canada/USA versions are identical. Anyway, Dynamic range is 15. Min. track DR 12. Max. track DR 17. I hunted it down, and was... -
Integrated amp + headphones, questions.
Thanks for the link and your advice. I'll probably ditch the idea of a cheap stop-gap integrated amp. I might just go straight for a Schiit Magni 2 Uber, it would cost a bit less than the amp I was looking at as well, and probably sound a lot better. My CDP is just a CD 5004, the absolute...- Seifer01

Speaker amps for headphones
Thanks for your reply :) I've just realised this thread is in the high end audio forum. The amp will be dirt cheap, as in below £200. It's just a stop gap so I can get away from my weak CDP headphone jack while I research dedicated headphone amps. It'll be a bedroom system, so I won't be...- Seifer01

Speaker amps for headphones
Hi I was thinking about buying a cheap integrated amp to use as a temporary headphone amp. Can integrated amps be used without speakers connected, just with headphones? Is 250 mV into 32 ohms enough power to drive beyer dt 990 (250 ohms) ?- Seifer01

The death of headphone retail?
It's generally wall to wall Beats and Skullcandy where I live. I did manage to pick up my Senn hd 429's from a local shop. There are usually gaps in the ranges... they stock Senn hd 429 and 449, but no 439 for example. I bought my CAL!'s online from Amazon. I generally have to rely on reviews of...- Seifer01

The death of headphone retail?
The high street as we call it in the uk, are very Beats-centric. And they have limited options for Sennheiser. Richer Sounds is pretty much the only hifi shop that I know of in my area, and there's no middle ground with their range of headphones. They start with limited budget options, and then...- Seifer01

Integrated amp + headphones, questions.
Hi, thanks for your reply. My beyers have a power handling capacity 100 mW, seems kind of low, although I have no idea about that kind of stuff. Numbers and calculations aren't my strong point. As long as it works well, then I'll be happy.- Seifer01

Integrated amp + headphones, questions.
Hi, I was thinking about buying a cheap integrated amp to use as a temporary headphone amp. I also want to use it with speakers in the future. I would be using it with my Marantz CDP. My questions are this; 1. Can an integrated amp be used without speakers wired up, just solely with...- Seifer01

Rate The Last Movie You Watched
When I went to see Attack of the Clones at the cinema, I remember thinking that it made the Phantom Menace seem completely and utterly pointless. The Phantom Menace could cease to exist and it would have pretty much no effect on the subsequent movies, or the narrative as a whole. I don't much...- Seifer01
