Reply to review by 'olddude' on item 'Empire Ears ODIN'
I got mine used with no cable. I have a 1960 and a Stormbreaker and prefer the 1960 (they sure sound different to me). The Odin soundstage isn't particularly wide, but it's good enough. The only slight issue I have with the Odin is that, for some songs/albums, I would like slightly more upper...- olddude

Reply to review by 'olddude' on item 'Astell & Kern A&ultima SP2000T Tube / Solid State Music Player (MQA, Triple AMP, LDAC, Hi-Res, DSD, 5GHz Wifi)'
I've really been enjoying the 2KT with my Odin (with actual 1960 cable, not Stormbreaker). I still have my 1K SS and while it may be slightly technically "better," it's not as much fun. I generally run Hybrid, once in a while going full Tube. I never use OP, as if I want that "sound" I'll use...- olddude

Astell&Kern A&Ultima SP2000T Impressions Thread
Glad it worked for you. I can't recall a 30 minute scan, but if you have thousands of MP3s it might. I run FLAC and my card is about 2/3s full. Keep in mind that a first scan always takes a bit longer, but after that it should be over quickly each time it runs. Since the device is trying...- olddude

Delete all music on the card. See if it shows up then (I think it will even if it is empty as long as you reformat it correctly). My guess is that you have tagging issues/file issues and the scanning is because it can't read what you put on the card. Especially if you have files in there it...- olddude

Empire Ears - Discussion & Impressions (Formerly EarWerkz)
I still have my Zeus but finally broke down and got a used Odin without a cable (using my 1960 with it- which I know you also have). As the used price keeps dropping, wait it out and get one when it reaches your price point. I still have and use my AK1KSS, though I've lately been using my...- olddude

If it doesn't have Album Artist as well as Artist, it won't show. It is there under something like "unknown albums." I moved my files over from a 1000 SS and nearly 100 of them didn't have Album Artist filled in and they got "lost." I can nearly guarantee you that is the issue.- olddude

Cables can give 5-15% change. Not always for the better. But you usually have to "listen" carefully to your music to appreciate the changes.- olddude

If you just buy what sounds good and then keep if for 3-5 years, and ignore the newer better flashier, you'll be happier. Unless you have unlimited money to throw around. I've said it before, people here are always chasing the dragon. The trick is to stop. There will never be a perfect IEM...- olddude

The Odin soundstage is not enormous. Kinda of ear to ear, but not going farther. I've had IEMS that put the soundstage past the ears.- olddude

Astell&Kern To Debut SP3000T DAP and NOVUS IEMs at CanJam NYC 2024
I have the 2000T (and have had a 120 ll, a 240 SS, still have my SP1000 SS) and the 2000T works very well with my EE Odin and Zeus. I'm not hearing crackles between tracks, just lovely silence, in Hybrid mode. When I go back and forth between the T and the 1K, the T seems a bit "livelier."...- olddude

I believe the light stays on. That's why I disabled it. Do you really need the light to tell you what mode you are in?- olddude

You can turn the light off. It just drains battery and really doesn't do much other than to tell you what mode you are in. I've had mine turned off since day 1.- olddude

I asked him when Odin came out to try it, got a fairly positive reply but then no followup. No biggie. He's busy, he owes me nothing, I just waited until the used price came down and got one.- olddude

Depends how you look at things. We routinely spend thousands on IEMs while others are happy with Apple earbuds that cost less than $200, and then some people buy the cheap earbuds for $50. Without getting into the whole mess of it, some folks pay for the highest quality music files they can...- olddude

I've been. playing with them on the Odin, and I find them LESS bassy and more trebly. I switched from the Stormbreaker to the 1960 and that brought things back into alignment. Using the M Dunu. I'm using the MS Omni for a deeper fit and, while they're comfortable, I don't find them as secure...- olddude
