Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones Part II
My mother asked to try my DT990 PROs when I received them. She was pretty impressed at the "wide open" sound. She said they were the best headphones she's ever heard, not that that would mean much considering she's an apple ear bud person but it was nice to get positive feedback :P- Neighbor808

Rank the Headphones that You Own.
Thanks Takato. You've saved me some time and money. I never would've thought the DT990 was better than HE-400, I just knew they were similar. I guess the extra cash for HE-500 would be worth it. I've got a FiiO E07K right now, if I pair it up with an E09K that should drive some HE-500s right?- Neighbor808

DT990 PRO Right Driver Rattling
Hello all, just this week I've stumbled on an issue with my DT990 Pros which I've only owned for ~3 months. The right driver has developed a rattling noise, it happens under very specific bass frequencies in the mid-bass area. I've disassembled the headphones and taken out the drivers, I removed...- Neighbor808

FiiO E07K ANDES Review and Help Thread
So, I've noticed that the E07K (Which I use with my DT990 and a Macbook Air or my custom built PC) has 3 gain levels. 0db, 6db, 12 db. How does gain work and how do I know where to set it? I'm sure this has been mentioned somewhere else before in this thread but I've searched around the forums...- Neighbor808

DT990 Pro Impressions Thread
Alright, thanks. Replacement pads are only about $25 so I will pick some up soon if I can't get the left pad to compress as well. What makes me so curious though is that this issue popped up out of nowhere and I've only had the headphones for a week!- Neighbor808

DT990 Pro Impressions Thread
I seem to have encountered a very strange problem with my DT990 Pros. I have no idea how it could have started, but I realized last night that the right earcup was closer to the ear than the left, and it is so extremely annoying. The left earcup is nice and raised off the ear due to the padding...- Neighbor808

DAC/Amp Combo Vs External Sound Card
Instead of making a new thread, I thought I'd ask here, can a DAC/Amp combo open up your headphone's soundstage?- Neighbor808

DT 990 PRO 250 vs SoundMAGIC HP100
Indeed, open headphones are just on another level. I'm just floored by these 990s. All my upgrades from here on out are going to be mostly open back (until my M50s or M80s run their course, they will serve their purpose well enough for years to come). By the way, thanks for amp suggestions.- Neighbor808

DT 990 PRO 250 vs SoundMAGIC HP100
Okay, so I can use it both at my PC and portably. That's great! I think I'll definitely grab this in a few days, just going to research a bit more.- Neighbor808

DT 990 PRO 250 vs SoundMAGIC HP100
Oh yeah, I've certainly noticed how these headphones can sound more or less like my similar closed back headphones on certain songs, whereas my higher bitrate sound files that involve a lot of instrumental work really open the sound. Source material makes a larger impact on sound than any other...- Neighbor808

DT 990 PRO 250 vs SoundMAGIC HP100
So, I'm only 4 songs in but these are already jaw dropping. The details I could hear but had to hunt for in my M50s are very apparent just through regular listening. There is so much separation in the different sounds. The treble is quite sibilant but nicely detailed. I love the sparkly high end...- Neighbor808

DT 990 PRO 250 vs SoundMAGIC HP100
Really? Thanks very much for the input. I'm not looking for a neutral headphone so I guess that rules out the HP100. Interesting response Folex. I've heard most people say the 990s had overly bright treble (which I tend to enjoy), and strong bass giving the mid range a back seat. Maybe...- Neighbor808

DT 990 PRO 250 vs SoundMAGIC HP100
I already own the ATH M50 and V-Moda M80s and I have enjoyed both of them very much. I'd have to say I prefer the more treble and bass oriented sound of the ATH M50s over the smoother and darker sound of the V-Moda M80s. I will be picking up a new pair of headphones in the next 10 days and I'm...- Neighbor808

Beyer DT770 Pro 80 vs. Beyer DT990 Pro 250
Having a hard time deciding between these. I listen to Electronic (Dub, DnB, Electro, House, etc.) And rock music (Alternative/Punk). Amp requirements are a non issue, although I don't want to shell out much on an amp and may have to run from Macbook Air soundcard for a bit. The cans will mainly...- Neighbor808

Upgrading from ATH M50
I own the ATH M50 and V Moda M80s which I really enjoy, but after around a year I'm looking into an upgrade. I've really been eyeing the DT770 80 ohm with an amp. Other suggeations are cool too, something semi-portable and circumaural would be my preference, but I wouldn't hesitate to give a...- Neighbor808

Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones Part II
My friend makes music in FL studio, at the time a (week or so ago) he was using a decent speaker system, I let him try my M50s and he was pretty impressed. He ended buying a pair this weekend! I've also converted 2 friends from Bose and Beats to wanting some Technicas, AKGs, or V Moda's- Neighbor808

Looking at some V Moda models
The M50s are definitely not freakishly bulky, but I wouldn't put them on and walk around comfortably. I can comfortably use the M50 while commuting on a bus or in a car or something, however. I'm not sure about the LP2 being any better in that regard (walking around), but I know the M80s would...- Neighbor808

Looking at some V Moda models
I own and absolutely love a pair of ATH M50s in white, but they aren't as portable as I'd like. I'm looking at something better for outside use. I listen to mainly EDM and some rap/hip-hop but like the occasional rock or alternative track. As you may have already guessed, I want bass for these...- Neighbor808
