New Sony Walkman NW-A300 Series (Android 12)

Thanks for the tips and sorry for the delayed reply. I've been out of the forum a few days!

New Sony Walkman NW-A300 Series (Android 12)

Same here. It does sound like a big step down from my WM1A, perhaps because the cap is a serious hindrance. Still, I'm happy with the functionality.

    SONY NW-ZX2

Unfortunately, I lost my ZX2 on a plane a few months ago. My experience, though was similar to yours. I couldn't even make it work properly with Spotify Lite, for instance. I had come to terms with the idea of the ZX2 having become a local-files-only player, the main intended use in my case at...

New Sony Walkman NW-A300 Series (Android 12)

Guys, my apologies in advance if this question has been asked and answered before. I did my best trying to find an answer using the "Search this thread" function, but I wasn't very successful. So I've just purchased an A306 to act as an extremely portable, cheaper companion to my WM1A. I'm...

    SONY NW-ZX2

Thanks, pal! Yeah, ZX2 was a great companion on my trips. I loved its SQ very much. It's a pity that its old SOC doesn't allow for more recent versions of the usual streaming apps.

    SONY NW-ZX2

The addiction is very real, indeed! I have A846, Z1060, ZX2 (not anymore, sadly) and WM1A. I was interested in the new sound features, such as DSD remastering, which you mention, and DSEE Ultimate (I do listen a small improvement in non-hi res files in my WM1A and I know the new series feature...

    SONY NW-ZX2

That's interesting to know... one thing that I have always loved about Sony DAP is that they look and feel well-made and, in the upper echelons, very premium. So if ZX707 feels cheap, that's something to consider.

    SONY NW-ZX2

Thanks for the offer. I may consider getting one back again in the future, for the sake of collecting it. I'd prefer to get a DAP that could work with streaming services, which I use occasionally.

    SONY NW-ZX2

Thanks for your suggestions! I will look into tgr Hiby RS2. Not really into double DAC as I prefer not to use my phone for music.

    SONY NW-ZX2

I lost my ZX2 in a flight...I guess we got to the end of our love affair by accident. I'm using my WM1A for travel purposes these days, but I'd prefer something smaller. Does anyone have a suggestion? I've been looking into small DAPs from Shanling, for instance, but they all seem to me like a...

Thanks a lot for the tip!!

    SONY NW-WM1Z M2 / WM1A M2

Hi, I'm considering AM2 (although it's hard to come by in my country) as a complement/upgrade to my 1A. One of my doubts is it's projected service life, given that it'll be stuck on Android 11. Any educated guesses on how long might it work properly (without becoming leggy and useless for...

New Sony Walkman NW-A300 Series (Android 12)

Guys, I've been following this little gen of a player for quite some time now, through various US websites (I don't live there, but it's usually easier for me to purchase from them) and I've found it hard to come by. I want it to complement my WM1A. Is anyone aware of a good site to get it...

New Sony Walkman NW-A300 Series (Android 12)

Thanks for the advice! I don't use my phone for music...I'd rather preserve its battery and memory. Plus, my phone doesn't have a 3.5 connector, so I'd be limited to BT IEM, something that I'm not too fond of. I own WM1A and find it too bulky for trips. I've never used it in such scenarios...

New Sony Walkman NW-A300 Series (Android 12)

Curiously, I own SE846 but since I stopped using ZX2 as soon as I got WM1A a few years ago, I don't recall ever trying ZX2 with the SE846. I guess I was lucky, because I don't have the bad memory created by the hiss. 😀

New Sony Walkman NW-A300 Series (Android 12)

Thanks for the reply and heads-up about the cap. That's another challenge here. It's quite a bit simpler to buy from the US where I live, but I guess I will look into other buying options. No sense in getting the capped version for the same price.

New Sony Walkman NW-A300 Series (Android 12)

I had the misfortune of losing my faithful ZX2 in a flight a couple of weeks ago. Great sounding old DAP, but a bit bulky for manipulation in packed planes. I'm thinking about the A306 as a replacement, which is tempting, among factors, due to its small dimensions. I'm not bothered by the lack...

    SONY NW-WM1Z M2 / WM1A M2

Hi guys, resuming a conversation that took place a few pages before, about whether any major OS updates can be expected in WM1M2, I add another reason not to be too optimistic about it (whether that's a good thing or not, I just don't know and I wouldn't worry too much about it). In the...

    SONY NW-WM1Z M2 / WM1A M2

Yeah, it did so with the old Z1000 series, which came out of the box with Android Gingerbread and got updated to Ice Cream Sandwich. After that, not really, I think. At least, we didn't get any major updates for ZX2. Don't know about ZX500.

    SONY NW-ZX700

I just can't believe Sony is crippling the new ZX707 for countries which do not seem to have laws in place ordering so. It's so annoying...and I can't understand what might possibly Sony win by doing this.

    SONY NW-ZX700

I am interested in the new ZX, as some other people have said before, as an alternate way of updating my WM1A (which I absolutely love and will definitely keep) without having to go down the WM1AM2 route, which strays into a rarified budgetary territory for me. If it's 80% of M2, I will be more...

    I completely agree.

    SONY NW-WM1Z M2 / WM1A M2

It's, of course, true that new DAP are indeed great temptations. Perhaps I'm not a representative person here, but I have stuck to my Walkmen longer than I had expected and regardless of the rhythm of releases in the market. They have been such satisfactory items despite their flaws. It might be...
