Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
Probably true! I am never very good at this. My hometown is exactly 12 hours different so I never need to calculate. It says 7am or 5am on Jason's posts though.- swang76

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
Wow! I know you guys were focused on speakers and out of the audio world for a while. But I never expected you started from the iphone earbuds just like most of us! I also started my headphone addiction from a K701, and I still love it so much. I pair it with Vali and my grado 325is and denon...- swang76

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
Just read from the very beginning of this thread. Before the book actually starts, I was very worried about either this being a pure story book or it become a fancy "inspirational" book. Now I'm relieved and addicted. This is exactly what I would expect from a engineer!- swang76

Pictures of Your Portable Rig (part XVI)
Got to agree with you on that headphone jack position. I heard that the hm700 is designed to work together with re400 so it would probably be a nice combo. I'll post some impression when I get it.- swang76

Pictures of Your Portable Rig (part XVI)
Hey, there is a easier way coming for a balanced set up. Hifiman's coming up with the HM700 balanced dap packaged with re400b (b means balanced here) together for around $250 in China. Yes, that's for hm700+re400b. Though right now they have not yet offered it out of China. I will be getting...- swang76

Black Schiit! (Or, our supplier's mistake is your, um, benefit?)
Me too, I just bought a stock D2k, and Schiit got Vali out which I really want to try, and it seems headamp's got HE400 for 299 on black friday... I'll starve to death in December if I get them all...- swang76

Schiit fire and save matches…er, money! Here's Vali, $119 tube hybrid amp!
I've been waiting for this ever since I got the Magni+Modi pair. But there is only one question, man, where are the tubes????!!!!! I'm sure I will confuse myself by putting it together with the Magni... I know I am probably asking for too much but, I really wish you can cut two holes and let the...- swang76

Black Schiit! (Or, our supplier's mistake is your, um, benefit?)
Quite sure your supplier is a huge Schiit fan here on Head-fi and wanted some black Schiit. He's probably thinking "If you don't make me some black Schiit, I'll make you do it!"- swang76

$300 or less headphones

$300 or less headphones
Quote: I will post my impression on my A900X in a few days. Actually if that guy listed A900x in the 50+ flagships, it is already good enough. Compare to those thousand dollar headphones and discontinued classics you won't be impressed by a $200 ath any more. Especially with that sony R10...- swang76

Top 5 In Each Of These Price Categories
+1 on K550 and Momentum My list: $<100 Sony MDR V6 :Great value no doubt about it. Grado sr-80i :some say every head-fier should own a Grado. Sr80 is the best way to test if you like Grado or not. 100<$<300 Sennheiser HD598 : Great all-rounder, good at any genre...- swang76

$300 or less headphones
Quote: My A900X is still on the way so I can't say much. But people say its got good bass. For K550, I'm quite sure some people are bothered for its relatively weak bass. Though I own and love the K550. AKGs are good at sound stage and detailing. The K550 has the best sound stage of closed...- swang76

$300 or less headphones
Well, under 300 you have a lot of choices. Based on your description I would suggest Beyer DT770 which comes in 32 ohms or 80ohms or 250 ohms. Closed can with good bass. You won't find much cans have louder bass than your beats but you will probably find every pair of cans has better bass...- swang76

ATH A900X problem
I'm not so experienced with your situation but I can try to give some explanations. The first thing is your source. What kind of audio files are you listening to. I would suggest at least 320kbt MP3, FLAC or APE would be better, WAV would be great. If you are listening to some 128 MP3 then good...- swang76

First post - Boston area and AKG K550 vs. ATH-A900X
Quote: I only had a chance to try the 80 ohm version briefly, and it proved every good word about it. Not sure about the 250 ohm. I use Magni and Modi with K701 which is well known for hard to amp, and they sound very powerful and fabulous. There should not be any problem with this...- swang76

First post - Boston area and AKG K550 vs. ATH-A900X
Quote: Agree with you on sound. I haven't tried a900x yet but it has such good review I'd really want to try it. I'm saving up for another $200+ pair and still hesitating between A900x and DT770. I have a pair of A700x which I got really cheap. The sound is a lot worse than the K550...- swang76
