Amps that can drive the HiFiMan HE-6 planar headphones

I have been wanting a better amplifier for my HE-6 than my current Emotiva A-100, and due to desktop logistics am looking for a quality integrated amplifier. The main two I have been considering are the Ayre AX-7e or the Audia FL Three S Does anyone have experience with either of these two...

Amps that can drive the HiFiMan HE-6 planar headphones

Maybe you misunderstood, HE-6 has the best bass on a headphone that I have heard. I just did not like it through the Jotunheim.

I have tried it. I was able to max out the volume knob. Bass definitely seemed less impactful than with low cost speakers amps I have tried.

    Sennheiser HD800S Unveiled!

I think you are missing the point that for $700 cheaper Tyll prefers the Focal Elear. Therefore for him the the HD800S is not a good value. It is not just in comparison to the Utopia.

    The Stax Thread III

Does anyone know what sort of price one might pay for an SR-009 if actually in Japan? Could one expect to get a better deal than on PriceJapan.com?

Amps that can drive the HiFiMan HE-6 planar headphones

I had commissioned one to be built as well and was curious, what was the total number of F5 clones he had in the works?

    New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil

I do not think you understood my point. Schiit is not competing with Marantz.

    New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil

I hope the Ragnarok will be nothing like the offerings from Marantz, Denon and even McIntosh. I hope it will be better, better like how a bottle of scotch is better than a bicycle. . .

Amps that can drive the HiFiMan HE-6 planar headphones

I am not sure why people keep saying Emotiva amps have high gain. Based on the specifications the gain seems pretty average compared to other speaker amps.

Sound Signature: sub $500 Equivalents of Summit Fi Headphones

Not a bad rough translation in my opinion. Although I would say the HE-5LE would be closer to the HD600 sound signature than the HE-500.

Amps that can drive the HiFiMan HE-6 planar headphones

Sorry to quote something so many pages back. But while looking around for speaker amps to power the HE-6 I found that McIntosh, Krell, Nad, and Bryston all have 29dB gain as well. I am not all that knowledgable in the field of audiophile power amps so I did not know that many names to look...

Amps that can drive the HiFiMan HE-6 planar headphones

I am not sure you can doubt an opinion. . .   Impressions were asked for, I gave mine which I stand by.

Amps that can drive the HiFiMan HE-6 planar headphones

I did get a chance to try that pairing and I found it to be surprisingly good. Not optimal, but it was enough to make the HE-6 still sound better than a perfectly driven the HE-500.

Amps that can drive the HiFiMan HE-6 planar headphones

So would you be of the opinion that XPA-1L monoblocks would not be that good of an HE-6 End Game Amp?

Do you think the WA2 as a preamp might smooth the treble some?

Amps that can drive the HiFiMan HE-6 planar headphones

Does anyone have any opinions on the Emotiva XPA-1L switchable Class A/AB monoblocks?    http://shop.emotiva.com/collections/amplifiers/products/xpa-1l    I am currently using the Emotiva Mini-X a-100 which I feel drives the HE-6 quite well compared to a number of top of the line headphone...

    New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil

Well the Ragnarok was the main reason I went to RMAF; if it was not there I would most likely not have even gone. On paper it is everything I could want, and has a collection of features which no other amp on the market has. I even brought my check book in case there was some pre-order discount...

2013 CanJam @ RMAF (Oct. 11-13, 2013): One of the world's finest headphone audio shows!

I bought a one day ticket, and the $10 has been taken out of my account, but I have received no confirmation emails regarding my payment, pass, registration, badge etc. Should I be concerned or is this standard? Thank you.

Amps that can drive the HiFiMan HE-6 planar headphones

Ha ha well the T1 is what I listen to the most often! Although sad to hear that that is the end of the road in your view, as I am getting fed up with the attenuator on the Soloist. I was planning on getting the Ragnarok to power everything.

Amps that can drive the HiFiMan HE-6 planar headphones

I know, that is why I clarified, although I never said vintage to begin with.    I am curious though, as it was left out of your preference order;  HE-6/Soloist vs. HE-500/Soloist?

Amps that can drive the HiFiMan HE-6 planar headphones

Eh, well that is not the point I was aiming for though. Just the headphone out of a Marantz SR4023, which I did not think was a very well respected amp. Well also I would of course take the HE-6 over the HE-500 both out of the Soloist.

Amps that can drive the HiFiMan HE-6 planar headphones

I do not have experience with the Lyr, but I would take the HE-6 out of the headphone out of a receiver over an HE-500 out of a Burson Soloist.
