    HARX900 Better than SA5000's

Unlike the 900's the DX3's sounded horrible out of the box. At 30 hours now they are beginning to shine! An unbelievable sound for $110 (freight included) headphones. I still might do the mods though. Thanks for everyones feedback on the modifications.

    HARX900 Better than SA5000's

Actually, on music with bass drums I eq my amp about -3 db. The drums then sound more realistic and they then do not interfere with the highs and mids.

    HARX900 Better than SA5000's

I'm not very good with tools and don't want to ruin them. Can you post the best thread to modify these in case I change my mind? Thanks.

    HARX900 Better than SA5000's

I sold my SA5000's a couple years ago and somtimes I've regretted that move. I have the RX900's now and don't regret it anymore. Compared to the 5000's the bass is much deeper and tighter. The detail is surprisingly close and the soundstage is more expanded. The highs are as good and more...

    Marantz CD-5001 vs SONY SCD-CE595

I have an older Sony CE375 and it outperforms my CD5001 with the optical output especially in soundstage, highs and detail. However with analog output the marantz is better.

    Considering buying a receiver <$500

I really like my Harman/Kardon AV receiver. The headphone output is outstanding and beats the highly acclaimed Marantz CD5001 output using optical cables.

Are Leather pads for DT880's worth it?

Thanks guys. Think I'll skip that idea.

Are Leather pads for DT880's worth it?

Beyerdynamic sells leather pads for $35.00 & shipping, and leatherette for $20.00. Do they improve bass or overall sound?

    BeyerDynamic owners unite...

Thanks wovenhand. Your post has helped me to decide to not get the W5000's. Saves me time purchasing and probably returning them.

    Question about Monoprice cables

I am currently using a Monoprice optical cable and find it much better in all around performance than the Blue Jeans optical. The highs are very clear and extended. The soundstage is also extended compared to all other cables I've tried. It only cost $9.00 and the construction is very solid with...

Has anyone heard these? The posts on Audio Review.com are very positive about these. I'm considering their Digital Coax.

K701 not enough bass even after burn in

Before I sold mine I cranked the bass up on my amp 5-8 db's which gave the 701's more of a full sound and pretty good bass without much distortion.

question on burning in a cd player

I just purchased a Marantz CD5001 and it sounds great out of the box. I was told there will be a big improvement after 80 or hours or so of burn in. Does anyone know if by keeping a cd on repeat continuously without shutting off for several days harm the player? Thanks.

    SONY SA1000, NEED OPINIONS! :)

I just purchased a Marantz CD5001 CD player. It has a very warm sound with plenty of detail and a huge soundstage. I am blown away at how good my SA5000's sound with it. They are better than my modified HD580's, DT800's and DT900's. They have a warmer sound and much more soundstage. They are...

    Initial Impressions:Marantz CD5001 vs Onkyo DX-7555

Hey daltonlanney, I really appreciate your reviews. Two years ago I got a H/K AVR335 audio/video receiver at a great price and I use it only with headphones. I always wondered how it compared to a headamp since most members on the headphone forum use headamps. If the H/K3480 is almost as good as...

Thanks daltonlanny. Is there a way to keep repeating the same disc automatically without having to manually push play while you sleep to burn it in? Also, not sure if you have read audioreview.com but they have some great reviews on this unit.

I hope this isn't a double post, the first one didn't seem to go through. Thanks for your comparison. I should be getting my CD5001 next week. Are you using the coaxial cable that comes in the box for your comparison with the Onkyo or analog cables?
