    Audio-GD Master 9

The M7 is cheaper than the Vega.  The drawback of the AGD gear is the look. It ain't pretty, but for some, it's just right kind of ugly.   I liked the look, once upon a time, but I'd rather have everything except the speakers to be concealed (unless I ever go tubed again).

The HE9 is just an M9 with a power regenerator built in. If you already run some sort of power filtering, the upgrade of the HE9 from the M9 would be partially, if not completely, negated. From early feedback (its been a while, so things may have changed), the power regenerator did have...

Beta testing the new Audeze Black-Box.

Australian member. Long time user of Audeze headphones. I'd be very interested in prototype testing this product as I'm someone who changes source gear often. Always looking for the ultimate amp for my Audeze collection and haven't found one yet. I currently own the LCD2.1, 2.2F, 3F, And X...

I prefer active speakers with active crossovers, as such, I wouldnt use a preamp for the MSB as the MSB has their own volume control. The manufacturer for my speakers recommended a direct pairing with the MSB and I'm guessing he built the speakers with MSB as the reference.

I use a Pink Faun I2S converter. I should have mentioned that.   The Master 7 is very neutral and MSB users will call it flat and "dead". I agree that the MSB Analogue is clearer and more precise as I notice the presentation of the sound source to be closer and more focused, however, not by...

    The Audio Technica W3000ANV Thread

I'm not a manufacturing mogul so that may very well be the case. I run a high end service business and I pass the cost onto the client. My surveys suggests that our target market is very happy to absorb margincal costs associated with keeping options open and is foundational.   I wouldn't...

I did not know that. The cable gauge does seem very small though compared to the Beyer T1s (which are a balanced terminated into single ended). Had no hesitation chopping up the T1 as the cable wasn't that pretty.   I wish all flagships would come as a 4pin XLR with a 4pinXLR-M to single ended...

I'm actually really enjoying the SGR CX4F and the customer support is amazing. Was throwing up between these and their higher end model, but decided to go with the CX4F as the reviews for them seems to be more positive than for the MT3 (coming from customers who either have both, are can afford...

That's called the M7+M9. I've run pure DACs (no-pre) that cost more than double the M7+M9 and couldn't compete with the M7.   I suppose they can cut out the headphone section and shave ~$500 from the price of the M9, but high end speaker users wouldn't bother trying to save ~$500 and taking...

    Apple Music... Seriously?

I converted my hi rez files to 320kb MP3 as my car's system does not play FLAC. My FLAC files were stored in an identical looking SSD enclosure. Plugged the MP3 SSD into my main system and the difference is audible. Feel free to argue that I am lying, etc. These enclosures were identical and...

M11 is a lite version of the M7 and the headphone output of the m9. Still a great deal for those who cannot afford a m7 and only uses headphones.

Would you consider having the HD800 and LCD-2 as being covered for all music?

I'd advise against starting out with totl phones. A newbie wouldn't know what they're listening to. How would they know what they have if they haven't been without?

Interesting that someone else mentions this. These were my "cover all" set up as well (but now I have a few more HPs).

    Apple Music... Seriously?

Apple is free to do as they wish, and so am I. Since most of their newer (in the past 5 years or so) products are very average, I have not used anything from them, not even their codecs.   Looks like Apple likes adding to things I will not take notice of.   I still admire Apple as a...

Yes I have, yes I have indeed. They sound sublime. My M9 is a hard worker, clocks about 9 hours per day, however, it is pampered. It is juiced by a power regenerator, and lives in a dust-free, low humidity, temp controlled room. Does a great job with my headphones too...

Toying with the idea of recabling the W3000 to run balanced. It's the only headphone in my collection that is still single ended, and my main amp does a much better job from the XLR outputs.   Has anyone done this? (subsequently, what are your thoughts if you have done it?). I've passed the...

No. Yes. And no.   I tried running them off batteries (solar generators) that were no longer needed. I then moved the system when I moved homes. Ran it off a massive UPS. I suppose that's the same as the solar panels as they were both running from the batteries which were flat DC current...

I've been using the Master 9 for about 6 months now as part of my main rig alongside the Master 7. Recent addition of a PS Audio P3 Power Regen has really made quite a leap improvement in the SQ. It is also a big plus that the P3 has the same width and corner curvature as the M9 so it looks...
