Headphones ~250 or under for all-around use

Apparently it doesn't have any from what I've read, so it makes driving low impedance sets problematic since even one or two steps at low volumes make considerable difference in the output level. But I had mine at around 30-50 volume and it didn't seem like it was having problems driving them at...

Headphones ~250 or under for all-around use

I didn't know there was one; I remember there was a setting on the STX when I had one, but I couldn't find a way to attenuate the amp on the Forte.

Headphones ~250 or under for all-around use

I don't need portability at all; set will be connected to my Auzentech Forte/PC 24/7.

    Any other opinions?

Headphones ~250 or under for all-around use

Thanks for the input. It does seem like we prefer the same sound signature. I had the same reservations concerning Grados as well. I'll look into the DN-HP700; I was prepared to spend more, but if they seem like a good fit I'm fine with saving a few hundred dollars :)

Headphones ~250 or under for all-around use

I'm looking for a pair of headphones for ~250 or under for all-around use (music/movies/gaming). I listen to mostly pop and rock (random sample of last four songs: Natasha Bedingfield, Train, Eminem, Kelly Clarkson). I don't listen to dubstep, trance, or most rap (with the exception of a few...

Open headphones for music/movies/gaming for ~$150-200

Well I don't listen to dubstep/trance/d&b/deathmetal, and listen to very little rap, so probably sub-bass isn't too important in my case. Thanks for the input on the mids and treble.

Open headphones for music/movies/gaming for ~$150-200

I'm starting to wonder if the D2000s would have been a better investment. I know they are closed but I heard they have a very good soundstage and better mids than the DT990 Pros. Would the D2000s be the superior set for my purposes?

Open headphones for music/movies/gaming for ~$150-200

I ended up pulling the trigger on the DT990 Pro. There is a considerable price difference between them and the DT880s, and I think I'll prefer a set with a little more color than the 880s which are evidently very neutral. Thanks for all the input.

Open headphones for music/movies/gaming for ~$150-200

Are vocals an issue with the DT990 Pros? I've heard the recessed mids cause them to be just average. Vocals are relatively important for me (I listen to mostly rock, but stuff like Pat Benatar where the vocals are a large part of the experience).

Open headphones for music/movies/gaming for ~$150-200

Where is the place you're seeing them for 155 shipped? The cheapest I can find the dt880s are ~100 more than that, so if I can get the dt990s for 155, I think it might be worth it to just pull the trigger on them. At some point, the price difference becomes a factor. Thanks for the input guys.

Open headphones for music/movies/gaming for ~$150-200

I was thinking of perhaps going with the DT880s instead for that very reason; I've heard they are great for gaming and the bass and treble are less emphasized.

Open headphones for music/movies/gaming for ~$150-200

I thought about the M50s, but I figured I would go for a pair with a better soundstage this time. I've been happy with my ATHa500s, but when listening to some open cans, I feel like that's the way to go for me next. The Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro 250-ohm certainly look like they'd be right for me...

Open headphones for music/movies/gaming for ~$150-200

Alright well, is it feasible to pick up a decent amp + open pair for ~$200 or so? I've been told the built-in amp on the Forte is pretty decent, for what it's worth. I'm looking for the best possible setup I can get for around $200; if an external amp is truly going to make the difference, then...

Open headphones for music/movies/gaming for ~$150-200

I have a pair of ATH-a500s but I feel like it's time for an upgrade. I'm looking to use them mainly for music (80s/90s rock mostly, but a lot of other modern music as well across many genres). Still, I want them to be good for movies and gaming as well and in the $150-200 range (although I'm a...
