Have you tried the EML Mesh Plate 5U4G? It's more mid-forward than the U52 and has tighter bass. One my favorite setups on the Stratus is all EML Mesh plate 2A3 and 5U4G tubes paired with the HE560.

Just got my pair of WE275's. I can confirm the impressions discussed about this tube are very accurate. So friggin transparent and halographic with the HD800. Wish it had a little more low end grunt for modern music. I guess I'll keep the Shuguang Nature Sounds for that type of stuff. Great find...

RCA Monoplates are way overpriced for what they provide. They're fairly linear-sounding with decent midrange and solid low end but a bit too smooth up top. I prefer the Sophia Princesses and the GE/Sylvania dual flatplates which provide more extension in the top range and sound more detailed.

I'm selling several 2A3 tubes on ebay that have a very midcentric sound. The Sophia Princesses, GE dual flat plates, and the Golden Dragons. With the HE1000 I'd probably recommend the GE flat plates because its smoother top end is an ideal pairing with those hot-sounding Hifiman cans.

Great writeup, avrosse. I especially like this part... I'm definitely in the Sophia camp. To my ears, the HD800's top end needs some relaxation. You do sacrifice some soundstage though.

I use the Jabra Move On-Ear for workouts. It isn't sweat proof but it is lightweight and doesn't fall off easily. It has a fairly balanced sound with good punch. For runs, I just recently ordered the jlab Epic Bluetooth In-Ears based on the recommendation by Wirecutter. I hope to receive it soon...

I haven't heard the Alpha Primes but the Alpha Dogs sounded very synergistic with the Stratus. The mids just blossomed. EML tubes elevated the sound even further. Should be similar with the Prime.
