Interesting thread! This is the first I've heard about people preferring the UE10s over the 11s. I love my 10s, but I've been itching to get the 11s. For my musical tastes, sounds like the 11s would be a better match.

Pay attention to the sweat factor. If you sweat a lot and moisture gets in - not so good - esp. if you've paid for some higher-end IEMs. I have a pair of e3's that went south after sweat got into one side. But miraculously, they dried out and came around.YMMV

How about iM716? Good value, tri-flanges or foamies for good isolation, and quite good sound. ($85 at Amazon - might find 'em cheaper elsewhere - but that gives you an idea.)

The best way to fix the bass roll-off is to drive it through an amp. My memory of using the EQ on my X5 was that it really increased the hiss. Trying a/b-ing the eq without music playing. Maybe the D2 is better than the X5 on this - don't know...
