Check out Eef Albers, the greatest unknown fusion guitarist. Only know his '87 CD "Pyramids" but is it SUPERB. Albers a very fine composer, versatile stylist- it's a shame he's not better known.- frankclone

stax lambda pro surgery
upon inspection I notice a small hole ( somewhere between pinhole size & small nail size ) in my left diaphragm & the left side is giving me some buzzy rattle. I was thinking of applying a minute quantity of something like super glue to create a thin film of filler that might restore the...- frankclone

Fixing Up some Stax Lambda Pro's
My old Stax Lambda Pro's ( 80's ) are starting to rattle...they sound good otherwise. I think the diaphragms have lost tension--they appear wrinkled & not taut like a drumskin. I read somewhere about a solution that may have been intended for full size estatic speakers: take a HAIRDRYER to...- frankclone

Best CDR media for Audio :::
I posted earlier that a 25-pack (actually a 15-pack) of Maxell Gold Brand was unusable....I played around with them a bit & noticed if I give my PC a little jiggle at start of burn that my burner will recognize the disk(it may take 2 or 3 attempts)!!! & burned disk plays flawlessly !!!- frankclone

Princo CDR's & environmental sensitivies
thanx, aos--that's my concern: health... I'm very sensitive to urea formaldehyde for example ( as in non-veneered particleboard). I'm wondering if I can give these CDR's a bath in lukewarm water & mild soap & see if this minimizes smell...without damaging CDR's.- frankclone

uhhh...I didn't quite get that...could you repeat that brand name, gloco? thanx, I'll give it a whirl-- I try to buy them in smallest quantities at first...what I find is a bummer is buying a 10 or 25 pack, finding out on 2 or 3 they won't write & not being able to return remainder !- frankclone

Princo CDR's & environmental sensitivies
Bought a 50-spindle of Princo CDR's & I'm getting a strong smell & raw throat when I take cover off spindle. Anyone have any ideas on source of problems? Is it manufacturing residue? Can I wash them down in soap & water ? Or perhaps it's the surface coating itself ?- frankclone

Best CDR media for Audio :::
Interesting...must depend on combination of CDR media, CD burner & CD Player.... Some CDR's will not even be writeable with my --admittedly, cheapo-- CD burner & others will write but will not be playable in my--admittedly, old-- CD player.... Anyone have info on longevity issue? Are there...- frankclone

really?? cheapos conk out after 3-4 years ?? any opinions on Verbatim Data Colors (they seem to record audio well but will they die in a few years)?? I've gone through several brands with mixed results... I thought Maxell Gold Brand was it when I successfully used an entire 25 pack; HOWEVER...- frankclone

Expensive CDP or Cheap CDP + amp?
Would anyone comment on the usable life of a CDP ? I picked up an 11 year old Rotel CDP for about $ US 100, thinking it was a good deal. It seems like a good source EXCEPT for random popping & clicking. Just how good a deal are these oldr CDP's?!?- frankclone

Great, dvw ! very thorough...I thought it had something to do with too high a caffeine level in the RAM so if its read continuously no problem? I takeit 1X reading would fall into that category....- frankclone

The Jitters
the actual term they useis "jitter correction" (if that makes a difference ) ---also, my burner can read 1X, but it seems minimum write is 4X--you think they would have included 1X for the fanatical among us- frankclone

Being & Hearing (Existential Audio)
If I had to rate my knowledge of acoustics/electronics/physics from 1 to 10, it would be about 1.5...well maybe 2 since I've been on Headwize/Headfi . Someone like Don Wilson of Etymotics would probably rate a 10. Some of the engineering students & music professionals here would be up there...- frankclone
