anyone recognize these headphones
Anyone else cringe when you see people wearing headphones with the wire coming off the right side(they're obviously wearing it the wrong way)? I do normally give people in videos and magazines the benefit of the doubt since it's the image that could've been flipped during editing.- guvnor

Sennheiser HD595's: How portable are they?
The 280 do have a coiled cable like the V6. I'm thinking about grabbing one of the 2 as well for a portable set(trying to replace my beloved Porta Pro). I really can't recommend the 595 as portable phones... size isn't a factor to me since I don't mind carrying big phones, but the fact that...- guvnor

And so it begins... (just got the portaPros)
I bought some cheap foam pads from The Source(formerly Radio Shack) to mod the pads. first, the opening wasn't big enough to stretch over the Porta Pros, so had to slice and dice. I then cut the hole in the middle around a nickel. after impression: it's very transparent. I thought the...- guvnor

Koss Portapro Thread
an update on my Porta Pro, after passing the 48 hours burn-in mark. impact! they finally have some kick. the highs have really come around, which is great. it helps to give it a better balance. the bass got a tiny bit more refined, but still feels a little "large". the mids still sound more...- guvnor

what does this mean? (KSC-75s are amazing!!)
you said you want something comfortable and non-fatiguing...these are unfortunately Grado/Alessandro's weak points. people are generally fine with the fit and fatigue, but in terms of the volume of complaints in those areas, the Grado design beats out any other brand. no one would argue...- guvnor

No matter how much I read, I can't decide between Westone UM2 or UE Super Fi 5
just pick one. you'll be happy with either one. edit: how about flipping a coin? although you'll probably end up going with the one that didn't win the coin-toss....- guvnor

How do IEM's look in your ear?
IEMs look like small penises inserted in your ear. j/k. the e3, e4, and um2 will all be pretty flat and will hardly stick out. the SFP sticks out a tiny bit cuz it doesn't go too far into the ear canal.- guvnor

alternatives to grados, leakage...
hehe, Grado definitely isn't suited for school - unless you don't want to use them during any classes. IEMs would be the best choice for going unnoticed. the 201 would be a great budget choice, with the 280 and Beyer 250 for more-money choices.- guvnor

Driving the HD201
that's a surprise. they're only 24 ohms and have fairly high sensitivity...plus they're closed. I would have thought even the 50 ohms 595 would be harder to drive.- guvnor

Koss portaPro Appreciation *revisted*
just got my Porta Pro today, only have about 2 hours on them so far. right off the bat, I pulled out a hair. not even 5 minutes after I opened the package and first time putting them on. I adjusted the size to my head, then took a very thin piece of masking tape and wrapped it around the top...- guvnor

Quick Comparison - HF-1 vs HD 595
good comparison - that's how I'd describe the Sennheiser sound as well. the lows are really present and all the highs are there, but is very effortless. the mids are the same way in my opinion; it's not lacking, but also doesn't have a big impact. I found the Grado sound to be a bit piercing...- guvnor

Help! Broke Pioneer SE DIR-800C Headphones! Replacement Parts?
you should probably contact Pioneer directly. Head-fi users aren't probably too familiar with Pioneer headphones or they'll just tell you to get a Grado/Sennheiser. I think you should get a Sennheiser.- guvnor

How to remove serious ear wax buiid up?
I use a bamboo spoon stick thing for general cleaning. I also use the ear drops and ear syringe once every few weeks or so for deeper cleaning. if you wanna go high-tech, grab one of these off eBay to take a look inside your ear. it's also got a spoon thing built in at the end. they seem to...- guvnor

What koss models use the same "speakers" as the PortaPros?
there are KSC-35, KSC-75, SportaPro, and maybe few others. although they have the same drivers, they wont sound exactly the same since they have different forms so they fit differently to different ears. edit: oops - 35, not 55.- guvnor
