I actually agree. I thought I was the only one to feel this way, but I listened to this the other day and the HD-650 sounds really muddy with these.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Has anyone else here come across the new korg tubes 'on a chip'?   They have a longer lifespan, run at a lower voltage and are much, much smaller.   Here is an article: http://hackaday.com/2015/02/02/tubes-on-a-chip/   It looks really great! There isn't a datasheet yet so I guess there is...

Don't you still need shielding for that? - so there will still be fancy cosmetics, and it won't really bring anything new to the table.

Looking for headphones and amp, not sure about budget just yet, somewhere around $400 for headphones, around the same for the amp

Alright, I'll have a look at those links. One question though, if they ship to Australia, would they still be under warranty? I've had a few things fail that I've purchased from overseas (my lens suffers from sharpness issues, my korean monitor died) so I always make sure they have warranty now...

Looking for headphones and amp, not sure about budget just yet, somewhere around $400 for headphones, around the same for the amp

Sorry, not even including the shipping or an amp the price of the HE-560 is $900. The comfort isn't very important for me - unless the 400i is very similar to the 500 - I wear grados on a daily basis with 414 modded earpads and I have no problems with it. What are the difference between the...

Thanks for the reply, that gives me some good ideas to go with.   Quote: Alright, I'll have to have a listen to it. Will the magni's volume have to be fairly high to support the cans though? I should have said this before, but I'm in australia so any cans that are $700-$800 are kinda out...

alright, any other suggestions? other than HE-400/5X0's, senheiser 650's or philips X2's?   i also kinda wanted the tube sound, but anyway... if I want that I guess I could just buy the one that schiit make with the 6088's (their $130, cant remember the name).

I'm planning to buy a schiit fulla when it is released for portable use, but I want a serious desktop amp and I don't need a dac! So for now, I'm just looking for a good desktop headphone amplifier. I'll have a look into the X2's and I forgot to list the sens HD650's lol, I'm definitely...

I'll keep it short, I currently own >Grado 125i >Lexicon Lambda (can be used as a dac from line out, will hold out on a dac upgrade :p) I currently listen to >Electronic >Funk >Hip-hop/underground >Some classical (these are all broad since most artists in their respective genres tend to be...

    The BEST-LOOKING Headphones

Quote: How did someone even dare think about posting Beats?    As for my personal favourite for the looks:   I'm sure you can... I guess it'd be the third easiest headphones to kill with. (Following the Beats and Generic headphones.)
