I can also confirm that the MSRP of these headphones has been 1295 for months. (Although I got mine at 1k by e-mailing various vendors and asking what the best price they could offer was... :P)

Schiit Lyr - The tube rolling thread

Quote: I'm sure Jason can comment, but I remember reading a post of his saying that they are very particular to the 6DJ8 family and that a google search for "Mike Moffet 6DJ8" would explain it all. (I didn't find much with my google search as he requested, but I was also really tired when I...

Well, not all of us use the Lyr. The 6DJ8 is a very popular tube and this thread has turned out to have a lot of good information on this variety of tube!

How many songs do you have in your music library?

iTunes has 11615 songs (34.5 days 71.83GB) of lossy music. Clementine has 4182 "songs" (15 days 12 hours, 210GB) of FLAC music. I say "songs" because some are entire albums ripped as a single track.   I've also suffered the dreaded ruined HDD. I've since learned to back up all of my music...

Win a Sennheiser AMPERIOR and limited edition vinyls!

Easily completed. Thanks for the giveaway to boost survey count.;)   You should just offer a coupon off the HD800 for future prize winners (that would be much preferable to me. :P) Not only does someone win something nice, but your company will (likely) still make a profit off of the sale as...

The Deals Thread (CLOSED! See the last post for the link to the new thread)

Quote:   Also good advice! Dealers can circumvent MAP on demo or open box items. A great example of this is the long standing huge discount off of Denon headphones over at Electronics Expo. I have found dealers to be much less likely to do the "like-new open box" thing with the HD800...

    Mirage Omnipolar Speakers

So I've been strongly considering moving away from headphones (or at least in a different room) and into a nice speaker setup. I've long lusted after the Decware ERR's with a Torii III but don't have 6k to blow. (My wife wants to kill me over $200!) In doing some research, I found a...

Are the sennheiser HD 598 comfortable.

Just to comment on the clamping force bit... The first few hours of use with any headphones will be a little tighter than comfort. However, the HD598's definitely have had the least clamping force of any over the ear headphone I've EVER owned. (My T1's have significantly more clamping force, but...

The Deals Thread (CLOSED! See the last post for the link to the new thread)

Quote: T1 for 1k is a pretty good deal. In case any of you miss it or aren't ready for it at this time, I got my T1's for 1k by e-mailing various reputable vendors asking them all what the lowest price they'd be willing to offer it for was. Best off was 1k with free shipping so I took it...

Are the sennheiser HD 598 comfortable.

I've never had the beats on for more than 5 minutes so I can't really comment on that.... but the HD598's were rather comfortable for the extended times I've worn them when I previously owned them. The earcups are very large and accommodating.

Best Path from iMac to K701

Budget would be helpful as well....   I would have recommended the Schiit Bifrost but it fails the bright light test. My god, that LED shines like a flashlight at night... What's the purpose for this?!?!

Quote: lol... Good to hear you found a good working system. I recently took my Bifrost and CSP2+ out of my office and moved them into my main listening room for PC audio and as a pre-amp... I'm looking at possibly getting a PS Audio DLIII but am curious as to how it compares to the...

I definitely found this review helpful and very thorough. Thank you for taking the time to write this review with such attention to detail.   I currently have my Beyer T1's and CSP2+ amp and really, really enjoy the sound and love tube rolling as well. (Although my wallet certainly doesn't!)...

Schiit Lyr - The tube rolling thread

Does this mean all of those beautiful tubes of yours will hit the market as well? :P I'm still dying to try to find some Lorenz tubes! :P I sold my Valhalla today... the magic of the 6dj8 won me over with the CSP2+. I'm currently really enjoying using your old Telefunken PCC88's for L and R...

Interestingly, my T1's warranty card that came in the box said 5 years despite the website saying two at the time... I kept warranty card just in case I ever need it, but it's comforting to feel like I have 5 years of warranty should the need arise.   As to the speaker discussion, I'm...

Decware Appreciation Thread (MT review up on first page 2-10-12)

Hey guys,   Looking to purchase a pair of speakers here in the next week or two and now you guys have me questioning what I want to buy! Right now, I'll likely be running them off of a Decware Taboo with CSP2+ as a pre-amp so they can expect a solid 6W of power. I'm sort of debating between...

Hey Misterrogers,   Can you or the tube wizard help answer a quick question for me? I'm in love with the Telefunken sound and am considering picking up one of the CCa's from Upscale Audio. Do the pictures look appropriate and the seller is legit? I know he has had Siemens and Telefunken...

My amp didn't come with a user manual. I knew I had read about the input volume control somewhere but couldn't figure out how to get mine to work. (You just have to turn with some force.) Thanks for the tips guys! I really appreciate it! (As of now, I have a early 1960's Tungsol 5Y3GT rectifier...

Skylab uses LCD-2's with a Mini TORII. Question for you all, I recall reading that the original CSP2 had a problem of getting too loud, too fast. Steve did something and created the CSP2+. I have the + model and mine has this issue. Was it a knob or something on my model that I just haven't...

Decware Appreciation Thread (MT review up on first page 2-10-12)

Well, I think my judgement of the Tungsol 5Y3GT was preemptive. I'm not sure if it just didn't get along with the 6N1P's or the Bugle Boy in the front driver, but I tossed a Mullard CV2493 in front and the Telefunken PCC88's in the channel positions and it sounds fantastic. Creamy smooth, great...

Looking for a tube:   Primarily concerned with: Resolution, Imaging, Soundstage   What would you recommend?   Right now I'm using a Mullard CV2493 in the front stage and using Telefunken PCC88 tubes for the L and R channel with a Tung Sol 5Y3GT rectifier. It sounds very nice but you...

CSP2+ arrived early yesterday! It did include the standard power cord as well as the audiophile one so I have been able to plug it in and listen temporarily. It's awesome! The CSP2+ absolutely blows away the valhalla (Granted it also costs about 2-3x as much...) I'm particularly impressed with...
