SHURE SRH440 or SHURE SRH550DJ (I'm a total noob)
I own the srh440 and personally, i feel they do good in almost all genres. Everything from rock, to pop, to jazz, to country, hip hop, R&B, post disco, and everything in between (like pop rock, alternative rock, country pop, etc.) I don't know about the 550djs, but soundwise, the srh440s are...- Headphones4154

the headphone is designed to leak sound. It's not a con nor is it a design flaw.- Headphones4154

The guy who suggested the ath m50, you're in the wrong review. These are open back, mid ranged headphones. The m50s are good, but they're closed back and more of a budget headphone- Headphones4154

Plastic isn't a bad thing. Plenty of headphones are made of headphones and can be thrown around like mad (the shure srh440 or 840, for example)- Headphones4154

I would have to agree with the above guy. A starter headphone should not pretty much require a dedicated amp and dac. However, the hd 598, from what i heard about them, sound amazing with the proper setup.- Headphones4154

AKG Q701 vs Sennheiser HD598 vs Boss QC 3
Don't scare this guy off man! You're definitely not going to need a multi-thousand amp for the q701. In terms of soundquality, the q701 and hd598 will beat the qc 3 anyday. Off course, the qc 3 will beat the other two in terms of isolation (duh). I would suggest something like the pro-ject...- Headphones4154

Beats Solo HD
Screw myself, I wasn't thinking two months ago. The beats are terrible headphones. They kill your ears after just one hour of listening. I have a pair of Shure srh440s (hence my profile pic), and they sound far better than the solo hd. Yes, they actually sound better, not just different. The...- Headphones4154

Sennheiser hd598 vs AKG Q701
I have been planning to buy the hd 598 for quite a while because of all the positive reviews, but just recently, i noticed the q701. I plan on buying a pro-ject headbox s and usb box s (or odac). I listen mostly to rock, pop, country, and jazz. I also have the majority of my library ripped from...- Headphones4154

Open Headphones under $300 compared to SR225i
I took an interest in the sennheiser hd 598 and from the many reviews I read, they are great for rock, classical, jazz, acoustics, etc. Not any bass heavy stuff (though they should perform ok), but for rock, they should be great. I plan on getting a pair soon as well as a hifiman ef2a. if you...- Headphones4154

Sound card and USB Dac
Ohh, ok. I do have apple lossless files for a majority of my library, so a good quality DAC and amp should do me well right? I plan on getting a pair of hd 598 soon.- Headphones4154

Sound card and USB Dac
I was wondering, if I have a usb dac that is connected to an amp, does it not get matter if I have onboard audio? In other words, does the "garbage in, garbage out" theory not apply if I use USB?- Headphones4154

Beats Solo HD
I own a pair, and yes, they definetly are not worth the $180 i spent. The sound is not as good as people say or as bad as people say. i used to be one of those "beats haters". now, not as much. The bad: not worth it at all, worth like $100 at most. The sound does get much better with burn in...- Headphones4154
