Rust-Oleum vs. Krylon
Kilz is primarily used for fire damage, I would use B-I-N from Zinsser. Alcohol based white pigmented shellac, works great for everything I prime out, from wood, metal, plastic, drywall, etc. If you don't like that, try Gripper from Glidden.- beamrider

Can DIY DAC run once it's plugged in?
Guzzler's USB DAC needs no external drivers , in my experience, for Win98/2000/XP. Plug it in, Windows detects it, installs its own drivers, and you're good to go.- beamrider

Locking hemostats
Been using locking hemo's for quite a while now, and I must say they're one of the cooler tools I use. Many things would be lots more difficult without them...... And headchange, you're supposed to lick off that stain, you don't want it to build up too much..........- beamrider

Weller station sucks.
The Weller today isn't the Weller of yesterday. Once Cooper Tools bought them out (along with Plumb, Wiss, Cresent, Erem, Nicholson, and Xcelite, all top names in their field before the buyout) quality went out the door and never returned........- beamrider

How to repair Koss the plug
The size I used I'm not exactly sure about, but know this: Unshrunk, it will fit perfectly over the little tube on the plug. Cut about a 2 inch section, and shrink all but the last 1/2 inch. Trim to fit, and voila!- beamrider

How to repair Koss the plug
I think he may be talking about the little black "tubes" that slide onto the plug itself, and that the cushion goes over. I made another pair from a piece of heatshrink, the shiny black stuff you can get at Radio Shack, worked just great.- beamrider

Thinking about modding my Heat Gun
I don't know, mine outputs 1000 degrees, and I hold the gun about a foot away from the shrink, works perfect. Most of the nichrome wire models output a certain temp, based on air flow and length of wire. Add wire, temp will drop. Remove wire, temp goes up.- beamrider

Rechargeable 9v Battery Question.
www.thomasdistributing.com A real 9.6VDC rechargable batt is about the same as an alkaline 9 volt; they both read around 9.6VDC at full charge. They're a little more expensive, but worth it IMO.- beamrider

Senn 600's Recabled with Mogami Neglex (pics)
Oh, one thing I just thought of (too late of course) it may be a good idea to use some sort of "guide pins" when making a mold like this. Perhaps a few pieces of toothpick set in the bottom layer of glue, then oiled up and glued over when making the top layer. Would probably help with the...- beamrider

Silicone didn't work too well, so I got to thinking............ And used hot glue for the mold. REAL easy to do, I made a perfect mold in less than 10 minutes. First, I oiled up the plug ( I used some Paslode lubricating oil I had handy.....lol) and then spooged a large glop of hot glue onto...- beamrider

Senn 600's Recabled with Mogami Neglex (pics)
Well, if you made a silicone mold, could you pull the plug out of it after casting? I would think that as flexible as silicone is, you should be able to do that. Completely covering the plug in silicone in a small container should work, I think. I've got some here, I'll see what I can do tonight.- beamrider
