Best Dock for iPod..
I'm actually curious about this as well. A quick search on the portable forum yielded mostly posts about (no way!) portable docks for use with portable amps. Didn't come up much on this forum either.- nately

ReadyMade magazine "MacGyver contest"
Some guy made little speakers using old headphonesm, altoids tins, and playing cards. Not a huge technical achievement or anything, but I thought it was pretty amusing. http://www.readymademag.com/feature_12_macgyver.php- nately

Motion-tracked binaural sound
This looks (sounds?) pretty cool: http://www.news.ucdavis.edu/search/n....lasso?id=7058 Looks like the guy in the picture is using Senn 580's. Here's the project's website: http://interface.cipic.ucdavis.edu/CIL_html/CIL_MTB.htm- nately

Shure E3C in Wired
http://www.wired.com/news/gizmos/0,1452,62411,00.html Kind of too short, not much mention of alternatives (I'd say the ER-4 is really the direct competion). And I probably wouldn't wear them riding a bike.... edit : whups, hadn't gotten to the headphone forum yet.- nately

GRADO PS-1 PRO -- Pictures (kinda) & Dealer Address
Very nice pictures. I'm really curious how these sound (to me, that is - not that I'll likely ever get the chance). Isn't it strange that they produced new drivers for these? (I'm impressed that you went in there to check it out)- nately

LotR: The Two Towers: Platinum Edition
Actually, I thought it was the rangers (Aragorn's crew from up north) who rejoined him at Helm's Deep. I agree that the Elves in the movie were a nice touch - for such a cheesy sequence their arrival was actually quite moving, and introducing the rangers at this stage would have been confusing...- nately

Bay Area meets coming up?
Kinda sucks, but I have too much I need to get done this weekend, a combination of work and other stuff. But I am nearby, so I'll try to get out for an hour or two. Happy Thanksgiving!- nately

Bay Area meets coming up?
Quote: Originally posted by shafu I'll be attending and coming from Mountain View if anyone needs/wants a ride (Morsel?). Also, I have a bunch of audio magazines I picked up from H_Man a couple of months ago. Any one interested? I can bring them to the meet. Details: "Stereophile Vol...- nately

Bay Area meets coming up?
I have a pair of balanced silver serpents, probably a lower tier IC but I'll bring them. I'm not sure about the potluck - I'm sure I'll be tired of cooking and stuff by this weekend. Would anyone prefer to chip in for some takeout? Also, I was wondering if anyone has either the Pearl...- nately

Bay Area meets coming up?
Quote: Originally posted by Stoney To test the Blockhead, we will need to have a source with balanced outputs. Or, we need adapters from unbalanced to balanced. Does anyone have either of these to bring? Sounds like there'll be several - but will there be enough balanced...- nately

Bay Area meets coming up?
I'd say the later date is probably better. I've seen traffic back up from Raiders games starting 10 in the morning before (for 1:00 games though), although with the way this season is going maybe nobody will show up. Plus, I guess some people will still have family around. That said, I'm also...- nately

Bay Area meets coming up?
I've been MIA from this thread for a while, but I'd definitely like to come out to an Oakland meet. Stuff I could bring: CAL Delta/Sigma 2, Corda HA-2, Grado SR-300. X-LP2 is a good, portable phono stage if there's a vinyl rig that needs it. By the way, Bob - I think I saw you in a Mexican...- nately

Woodwind Musicians: What brand of reed do you use?
Hey, the hand carving thing isn't so far-fetched. If you get something harder like a 4.5, and use a sharp, straight blade to thin it down a bit, you'll end up with a more balanced, customized reed. It takes some time, and you'll screw up a few reeds while figuring out what you're doing, but it's...- nately

WE WON!!!!!
voodoo, mind if i borrow that jpg for a couple weeks? It's weird sometimes, living in Oakland. I love dropping by for dollar Wednesdays ($2 this year!) once in a while. But situations such as the Patriots/Raiders playoff game a couple years ago are proof that no matter where you go, you...- nately

Bay Area meets coming up?
I would probably go (if space permits, since I was fortunate enough to go to the last one). If the R-10 can come, I would definitely go, to hell with enough space. Didn't nanahachi actually move to SoCal? I think at least a couple people have offered to host though. I think 18psi or someone...- nately

Grado Flat Pads for sale @ Todd's!
Very cool. Now I don't understand why HeadRoom never did this. Heard something about a 2000 pair minimum order IIRC (way more than could probably be sold), but 650 is pretty reasonable. I'm definitely getting a pair to try out (vwap vs. TTVJ!). Never got desperate enough to try listening with my...- nately

Review: Pioneer SE-DIR1000C Dolby Headphones
All this Dolby Headphone talk has gotten me into the idea of getting a DH system rather than shell out for a home theater. Probably mostly for gaming, and occasional late night movies. I have several Dolby Headphone questions. Along the lines of the DVD-A train of though, is there anything...- nately

Bay Area meets coming up?
You can bring your R10 and HR2 by my place anytime! But yeah, there was a meet just a couple months ago, so it'll probably be a couple more months before there's enough momentum for the next one. If only so people have time to buy new gear! (though many have already, it seems)- nately

Very serious ear problem

My NOS SR100 came today.
Interesting observations, a little different from my SR-300 to 325 comparison. I found that the 325s have a much higher sensitivity than the 300s (on a Corda HA-2 0 ohm, around 8-9 o' clock for the 325s was close to 11 o' clock for the 300s). I also found the 325s to have more bass slam. As for...- nately

question for CAL igma owners
I've never heard anything like that out of mine. I would be a little concerned. There really shouldn't be any moving parts, you know? Since it's some sort of mechanical noise, I would take the top off and reboot your computer to see if anything visible happens at the same time.- nately
