    Shure SRH1540 Review

Personally I prefer to eq down the bass a few db and eq up the mids a few db, gives a sound signature much closer to my ideal (hd650) :)

IEMCrazy:   Although many people who say that digital cables either work or doesn't work might have a few misconceptions about how digital cables work, in essence they are basically correct. Since a digital cable is either sending a 1 or a 0, and there is a threshold you must pass before a 0...

Quote:   as been told numerous times in the thread, the correct way to stretch them is to extend the metal bands and bend them using your hands. If you do this the clamping will completely go away.

Quote: Another reason not to stretch it like that is that your are not actually stretching the headband but rather compressing the cushions. which is bad. The recommended method is always to extend the metal bands and bend them, any other method will either risk breaking the headband or...

Quote:   The problem, as pointed out by me (and most likely others) before, is that unless you can make a proper blind test with the cables the test would serve no purpose. People are more or less guaranteed to hear differences even on two identical systems if they believe that there is...

Quote:     Thanks for your very well-written answer. An interesting read indeed and I can totally respect your stance. If the difference between cables are very small changes in the sound signature, wouldn't it be easier and a lot more cost effective to just use an EQ to produce these...

Quote:   Just out of interest, since you were a former non-believer, did you do an actual blind test in which you managed to detect (reliably) the difference or did you just suddenly decide to trust you ears..? Because, as audio science dictates, there is nothing odd with hearing a...

Alright, going back to our beloved headphone.. how do you people clean the pads? So far i've just been using my hands to kind of brush them but I don't think it will suffice forever. Anyone tried actually washing them ?

Quote:   I'm sorry but A/B means nothing unless it is proper blind testing, with a good understanding of the human perception and expectation bias you will surely agree to this.   No one has been able to get reliable results in a blind test with cables and no one ever will unless...

Quote: I would certainly not use that way to bend them as that could very much damage the headband. You are supposed to bend the tiny metal part that is between the plastic headband and the earpiece, start by extending the earpiece to it's maximum length.

Quote: no, that will make the pads squish together instead of actually loosening the headband. If you bend correctly (as described in some other thread here) there is no possibility of chipping paint or cracking the headband since you are bending the metal on the sides and not the...

Going for a 18mW/channel player to a 13mW/channel player, had some Qs

SNR is only how much white noise you can hear when the music is off or something like that.. i cant really describe it in english :P bottom line is: yes they will be able to drive any canal phones or earbuds just fine. You will not need to turn it up to full volume either.
