Emotiva mini-X a-100 integrated amp for those hard-to-drive orthos?
Semi-necro. I only own one pair of headphones that my DAC/HPA drives suitably. If I had a pair of hard-to-drive headphones I would try. But, IIRC, when I looked into what's involved with using a speaker amp on headphones you need to do something about the massive resistance that...- MarioImpemba

Denon D7100?!
Ha, children. Being an "audiophile" shouldn't mean you're a one-dimensional buyer that will sacrifice anything in the pursuit of subtle differences in sound quality. By that token, you should be ashamed if you own anything other than an O2 head-amp, but some people much prefer bespoke cases and...- MarioImpemba

Denon D7100?!
This. Design matters. See: Apple products. Beautiful aesthetics make the world more interesting to be a part of, whether it's clothes, cars, furniture, flat-screen tv's, headphones, et al. You shouldn't have to sacrifice looks for function or function for looks with a proper design.- MarioImpemba

Q701 impressions thread
Quote: Beyers. Love the comfort. If someone can figure out a pad solution to the Q701 I would love it. Really, that's my main issue with the comfort as well. The headband bumps I sliced off immediately, so that's solved.- MarioImpemba

Denon D7100?!
I ignore the design completely and just go off the quality of rendering and model. The rendering and model are definitely ****ty-freshmen-design-student quality; no way in hell would a legit company have designers that bad. I could make a better rendering in my sleep.- MarioImpemba

Which AKG: K701, K702, or Q701?
How many factories have you been inside in China, or is your entire basis of information sensationalist journalism? I've been in many; not everything made-in-China is from a forced-labor sweatshop. How about supporting labor and products from your home country where our trade...- MarioImpemba

Quote: I'm sure this will get me castrated here, but... Don't have $600 lieing [sic] around, but have a +$4,000 headphone rig... Anyway, I've been eyeballing those Emotiva mono-blocks + Maggies (MMG's or 1.7's) for awhile; nice choice.- MarioImpemba

Headphone advice for Anedio/Burson setup
I'm impressed the D1 could drive the HE-500's; how high did you have to go on the VC to listen comfortably? MalVeauX's reviews nearly have me sold on the HE-500's the same way Project86 sold me on the D1; but, I planned on picking up the ODA (if it isn't vaporware) to power the HE-500's.- MarioImpemba
