"Mad Dog" by MrSpeakers, modified Fostex T50RP review
Quote: I've had them for almost a year and a half. They're kind of uncomfortable and the sound is still way too harsh. The M80s are horribly uncomfortable too, and I've stretched them quite a bit. They were almost unbearable when I first got them. Quote: Well you've convinced me...- TheGreat

Well if I ever plan on using them as portables I have my D2+, and I plan on getting the Modi and Magni, unless there's something just as good, for decently cheap. Any suggestions?- TheGreat

Hey guys, I've been reading this thread for awhile and I have a few questions. I really feel like pulling the trigger on these, they have pretty much everything I want from headphones. My only question is do they handle rock music well? I'm coming from a pair of M80s and don't like how...- TheGreat

Hey gents, I'm looking for some advice. I'm looking for some closed headphones for about $300 to maybe $350. I want them to be very comfortable for extended listening sessions, portability is definitely a plus, and I would prefer if they didn't leak too much. Sound-wise I want...- TheGreat

Closed headphones for a dorm
Can't argue that logic, thanks for the help guys. Do you think the Modi and Magni would pair well with the DT770s? They're take up very little room which is nice, and they seem good enough to keep around for a long time since I wont be purchasing any top-tier headphones for quite some time.- TheGreat

Quote: Ohhh thank you for the clarification, they look extremely nice and I'll probably pick some up in the future. Would you say the DT770s are a better by since they're significantly cheaper than the rest? If they're fun to listen to I'd have no problem saving myself the money.- TheGreat

Thanks for the suggestions, but would there be any cheaper alternatives to the Stax pads? I've read that the Maddogs are very comfortable (the $300 model that is). And which version of the DT770s would you say is best? The 80 or 250 ohm?- TheGreat

Hey there, I'm looking for a pair of headphones for when I go off to college. I currently own some Ultrasone Pro900s and some M80s, and while I do enjoy them, I want something more. Basically I'm looking for headphones that a very, very comfortable that I can listen to for hours at a...- TheGreat

Quote: Yes, the bass is still very good unamped. An amp is not a necessity with these at all, it just makes them a little better. Also know that these headphones are very good at picking up the faults in bad recordings. Some songs sound awful with these but that is purely the...- TheGreat

Quote: The 900s sound great out of a laptop or iPod. I use an Ibasso D2+ to power mine but if you're looking for something cheaper just go with the Fiio e11. More than enough power to drive these headphones.- TheGreat

Quote: Well maybe I'm not looking so much for an upgrade as much as a compliment to my 900's. That being said I think I'm leaning more so towards the Denons as I've been craving something warmer/darker than the 900's. Also I've read you can get them for about $210 from J&R if you call...- TheGreat

Hey guys, Recently I caught the upgraditus bug and I'm looking for some new headphones. I currently have the Ultrasone Pro 900's and I'm using them with an Ibasso D2+ Boa and Ipod Classic 160gb. I love the headphones but nowadays they're sounding very cold to my ears. They're also not...- TheGreat

Ibasso P4 or D2+?
Quote: Thank you for the reply, and I'm not expecting any kind of audio miracles. I almost never listen to music at my desktop so portable is what I'm really after. I don't think an amp is going to necessarily "improve" the sound as much as it is going to refine it. That's what I'm going...- TheGreat

Ibasso P4 or D2+?
Hey Guys, I'm going to be getting a portable amp for Christmas but I'm not sure which amp is better. Is the P4 worth the extra $70? I can't seem to find a complete review on either one. I'll be using my Ipod Classic 160gb and Ultrasone Pro 900's which I understand don't really need an amp...- TheGreat
