It was overkill for my system (and my wallet)... check out the a900s.

They can be found off ebay for $305 out the door still I think. I just sold mine for a little less than that, but they were brand new, never used. You could get a used pair for like $250-$260. Shipping couldn't be that much overseas....

I think most people here would let up on them some if they weren't so expensive and didn't consider themselves "high end".

I know I'm excited about it atleast. I can't wait for more reviews and to hear other's impressions also. I am a hardcore gamer and an audiophile on the side... so in theory...this is right up my alley!

I believe Tiberian has woodied 650s. You might just be better off PMing him and asking for his thoughts. It's not a common mod so you're looking for thoughts from a very small group of people I think. If you wait until January after the meet in Seattle I'm sure there will be lots of talk...

Maybe the Audiotechnica a900 might be a better choice for him... they're only 40Ω it seems

Neil, talk about the DAC1 some more, im on the verge of buying one... I am either going to get a dac1 and use it as source and amp with my 650s or get a modded EMU and a nice amp (get the dac1 later maybe) which would sound better until I can afford to upgrade the system more...

Well a bunch of gamers recommended plantronics audio 90. Well I got them and they didn't sound too great. Not to mention they started falling apart after a couple weeks! I just trashed them.

I know Zu lets you return the cable for a refund if you're not satisfied in the first 30 days. That's pretty cool IMO, they know that (most?) people are making blind buys...

I guess there really isn't an excuse for me not to give this thing a try huh? If nothing else I'll save it for if I ever run across a good deal on k1000s...

That's a great solution - especially if you have multiple headphones... There's even a hook for the cord...

I still have to get an amp and source for these 650s I just got for Christmas...
