AKG K701 - The best amp money can buy?

I enjoyed K701s a lot. If you like the AKG sound but want more bass, the K712s will provide it.   What is your source? Is it a computer? Does your DAC use a USB input? Do you want a combination DAC and headphone amp?

    Hieutrung Handcrafts headphone stand

A thoughtful design, flawlessly executed. Way cheaper than many other stands, too. I've lived with mine for over a year, and haven't found any problem whatsoever.

    K702 / K701 Amp / DAC Suggestions Budget: $300-$400 total

Check out the review in SoundStage!Xperience of the Schiit Asgard. http://www.soundstagex.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=38&Itemid=2    I thought the Schiit Valhalla is a better match for K701s; it has more extended highs, excellent lows, and beautiful midrange...

    AKG experts - K501, K601, K701

Since the AKGs are very transparent, a lot of what you hear will be the amplifier that drives them. Through my K701s, I have heard amps that sound rolled in the highs and amps that sound peaky. The K701s will reproduce whatever you power them with.

    K1000 Poll

I tried some K1000s at a Head-Fi meet, and found them rather uncomfortable. Considering that, their sound didn't matter.

    Ft. Worth meet

Thanks, Rob, for hosting the Ft Worth meet. I heard a lot of new equipment, learned a lot, met a lot of smart and gracious people, and ate a LOT of great food at Charleston's. From my perspective, things couldn't have gone better. That sort of thing always means someone (you!) did a lot of work...

    Headsave New Classic mini review

Well done review. I just finished burning in a Classic myself, and installed it in my system today. I'm very impressed at how good it sounds, especially at its price. Mine uses the OPA 637/627 opamps, and drives my K501s as loudly as I need it to. I've got the input connected to one of my...

    New HD-650's suck when new

My experience with HD650s mirrored yours. Even after 150 hours break-in, the sound had not improved enough to warrant keeping them, so back they went. I think I'm just not a fan of the Senn house sound. My old Beyerdynamic DT990s sound very similar. The Beyers are more comfortable, too...
