I enjoyed K701s a lot. If you like the AKG sound but want more bass, the K712s will provide it.   What is your source? Is it a computer? Does your DAC use a USB input? Do you want a combination DAC and headphone amp?

A thoughtful design, flawlessly executed. Way cheaper than many other stands, too. I've lived with mine for over a year, and haven't found any problem whatsoever.

Since the AKGs are very transparent, a lot of what you hear will be the amplifier that drives them. Through my K701s, I have heard amps that sound rolled in the highs and amps that sound peaky. The K701s will reproduce whatever you power them with.

Hey, all you K701 users, how long does it take to burn in a set of K701s?

I tried some K1000s at a Head-Fi meet, and found them rather uncomfortable. Considering that, their sound didn't matter.

My experience with HD650s mirrored yours. Even after 150 hours break-in, the sound had not improved enough to warrant keeping them, so back they went. I think I'm just not a fan of the Senn house sound. My old Beyerdynamic DT990s sound very similar. The Beyers are more comfortable, too...
