Plz help me choose the correct Q value for and EQ peak filter
Thank you for your response. I will definitely play around with the EQ when I am home and with the headphones. I was just asking for a good place to start. Or, to at least get the general idea of how I should be trying to manipulate. I understand your point that my headphones probably wont...- JUSTINDTH

Plz help me choose the correct Q value for and EQ peak filter
Hello, I have a pair of Hifiman HE4xx for which I want to try only EQing out the treble peak. I am familiar with Oratory1900 and AutoEQ settings that change the entire EQ curve to match that of Harman curve. I've tried that, and like it. However, what I want to do is EQ out the blue peak you...- JUSTINDTH

Hifiman HE400se
Dude! My 400se is to arrive by Mar 10 according to Amazon. Oratory has a sound profile for them where it looks like he adds about 9db so so of bass. I expect if you do not EQ those headphones you might be dissapointed? If you scroll up on this page you will see a post with a picture from vsg28...- JUSTINDTH

Hifiman HE400se
I realize now your specific Q701 are not mentioned however K702 is. According to this site they look like they are almost identical sounding (which is what I remember reading about K701/K702/Q701. Just marketing and different colours right...- JUSTINDTH

Hey! I am in the same situation as you. I listen to mostly Rock&Metal and was looking for musical and fun headphones. Since 2011 I have owned many in my chase to get what you're asking for out of those genres. I've owned and sold SR60i, PS500, RS1i, HD600, HD650, HE4XX, Sundara, Ananda, Elegia...- JUSTINDTH

Radsone EarStudio ES100
Been loving using this amp daily for a month now and the app is great! However, I can’t figure out how to apply a low shelf eq or change the frequency bands or the peaks to something more specific. for example my options are 31, 62, 125, 250, 500, 1K, 2K, 4K, 8K, 16K. But, I want to adjust...- JUSTINDTH

Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread
Hi guys, Just wanted to chime in and say that I use the HD600 with a fiio E17 at work to listen to punk, metalcore, hardcore, etc... almost exclusively. They sound great. For these genres I have personally preferred them to the DT880 600ohm (too bright), PS500 (didn't enjoy the earpad fit...- JUSTINDTH

Stax SRS-2170 vs Koss ESP-950
Hi guys, Rather than start a new thread I figured I'd post here to see if anyone in this last year (or ever) has had the chance to compare both systems in the thread title. The SRS-2170 vs ESP-950. I listen to mostly punk rock, hardcore, metalcore, etc.. types of music. I like to feel...- JUSTINDTH

Which albums sound best with your Grado?
Wow, what a great thread. I'm glad I've stumbled onto it as I have a ps500 purchase pending. Most of this is music (Artists) I've never heard before and it will be fun to try it out. However, does anyone have any good punk, hard rock, ska, hardcore, metalcore music to recommend that will...- JUSTINDTH

Grado Labs NEW e series headphones and loaner program!
Hi Guys, I was wondering when I can expect to see the first PS500e review? I've been hunting around on the internet the past few days and can't seem to find one. I've been on the edge of buying a ps500 for months now. However, I can't get a quiet audition outside the store. The local dealer...- JUSTINDTH

Grado PS500s (new Grado's)
Thank you for the comments guys. I have the current HD600 (bought approx. 1 year ago). Perhaps laid back was the wrong word to describe them? I apologize I just meant to say that I find the treble present, but smooth on the ears. Not at the forefront and painful like my DT880 for example. I...- JUSTINDTH

Grado PS500s (new Grado's)
You say that they are smooth vs other Grados which everyone seems to agree on. However, are they smooth like my HD600? What frequencies tend to be the ones that can make some people's ears feel like they are bleeding after a few tracks? I remember I had this problem with the SR60i and sold it...- JUSTINDTH

Grado PS500s (new Grado's)
I spent about 30mins in a busy audioshop in town with the ps500. They sounded good, but I had to listen to them at louder volumes than I normally would. Too much going on in the store to focus. Other people are playing speakers and talking over them too. I have some questions for the owners...- JUSTINDTH

Need Help from Ottawa HE-500/400 or LCD2rev2 owner please!
Hello, A recent Stax transaction fell apart so I am still on the look for my next set of headphones as either an Electrostatic or Planar Magnetic. I am able to audition the Stax SRS 2170 system at Planet of Sound in Ottawa. However, I have not found anywhere nearby that has any Hifiman...- JUSTINDTH

Stax SRS-2170 + SR-207 or Mr Speakers Alpha Dog + Fiio e12/ O2
I have the same genre preferences as the OP. to answer your question about amps... No. Stax have their own amps. The plugs on Stax will not fit any normal amp. There a few aftermarket electrostatic amps though, Headroom makes one for example. You cannot play them from an iphone or ipad. ...- JUSTINDTH

Thank you yaluen and chrisj for your replies. However, the SR202 or 2050 is not sold in my area. I have access to a 2170 system new for $895. The comparisons you speak of will be helpful if I decide on getting a 202/2050 however I am skeptical about using what I learn about one version of a...- JUSTINDTH
