Koss R80 - What do you think about them?

I can get them for about 60 bucks. Are they worth it?

I can get brand-new Denon AH-D340 for about $114. Should I go for it?

    The title is self-explanatory.

Software for checking the quality of scratched CDs

I want to sell some CDs I no longer want in my collection. However, I used them a lot and they got scratched over time. How do I check if they play without skipping or any losses without actually listening to them one by one?   Do you know of any software that could check the CDs for me?

How to equalize your headphones: A Tutorial

The one you gave is pretty good but that's not it. The page I'm looking for had buttons (these are the rectangles I meant) that played a certain tone at a certain volume. If you clicked one it became highlighted and at the end (after choosing one button/rectangle in each column) you had what you...

How to equalize your headphones: A Tutorial

I keep looking for a certain audio equalization website but I cannot find it. Still, it's probably well known so I thought about describing it here and then maybe someone can give me the link to it:   - it was a regular guide to equalizing, nothing unusual - it was a single page that was...

    Do I even need a USB DAC/Headamp?

Since I bought AKG K412Ps I've been planning to buy one of the cheaper USB DACs (two most interesting to me being FiiO e7 and Audinst HUD-MX1) - I thought that since I have headphones that one could call "not bad" (even though they're just portable ones) I now could improve on the sound by...

(over 300kbs of photos) Are these AKG K412Ps fake? (probably not, just want to check)

Anyone?   After some work with the equalizer (too much bass for my taste but this is also due to my internal sound card or some settings/plugins I don't know about that may be turned on) they sound pretty nice for the price... I have no comparison though. It's tricky. But AKGs aren't faked...

(over 300kbs of photos) Are these AKG K412Ps fake? (probably not, just want to check)

The price was not too good to be true (about 29 USD), I got them used at an online auction website allegro.pl, which is the most popular website of this type in Poland (we do have eBay but it's minor, our market is pretty much dominated by Allegro).   Do we even have any owners of these...

(over 300kbs of photos) Are these AKG K412Ps fake? (probably not, just want to check)

I bought these used and received them today. Can owners of real K412Ps compare theirs with mine? Here are photos with things that I think might matter, such as the shape of the plug, the look of a speaker etc, I had to edit the colors (setting the white balance in my camera was tricky at this...

    The Ugliest headphones ever.

After looking at this thread again, this time looking at nearly all of the photos, I think I should comment on these two headphones: Quote: What is here to hate? The gold and black color scheme? Well, I don't like these at all in this photo but they aren't that ugly and most of all I...

    Best-looking headphones?

I'm not not good with fashion, sadly, but let me paste here what I wrote in a thread devoted to worst-looking headphones: To be honest, to me it's the more average consumer-oriented brands like Sony, Technics or Philips that seem to get the headphone design right. AKG seems an exception...

    How loud do you listen?

As quietly as possible. On the typical 0-100 scale used in the Windows sound volume settings I listen to music at 5 when I know the music very well and 10 when I'm listening to something new and want to hear as much as possible (I listen to my music mostly using my computer). The general rule is...

    Are only hi-end headphones faked?

Actually I'm interested more in ways of telling if headphones I'm actually holding in my hands are fake or not rather than judging it by the price. I once saw an article or a post on a message board where the physical proofs of certain headphones being fake were described. I remember the shape...

    Are only hi-end headphones faked?

The title is pretty much the essence in this case. Can you buy fake Porta Pros? K412Ps? K420s? HD201s? And are there any guides on the internet teaching how to tell if headphones are fake? Some general rules?

How to equalize your headphones: A Tutorial

Are the suitable eq settings the same (or similar) for all headphones of the same model or is each one different? An internet database of eq settings could be made, I guess.

    Highest frequency you can hear?

16300Hz at my regular listening volume (which is very low), about 17500 at the maximum. But I've heard that your gear influences the results of this test heavily, soundcard (or maybe the drivers) being very important.

    The Ugliest headphones ever.

To be honest, to me it's the more average consumer-oriented brands like Sony, Technics or Philips that seem to get the headphone design right. AKG seems an exception among the audiophile brands. Grados are too retro for my taste. Bowers and Wilkins P5 and Koss Porta Pro are ugly too, though I...

AKG K420's or Philips SHP-5401s (PC use, mostly)?

Well, I live in Poland (and Maciek is my actual name, not a weird username ) so prices in GB don't matter that much to me (except for those on Amazon, which ships certain stuff for free over 25GBP) . SHP5401s cost about 18GBP over here and the K420s cost about 38GBP.

AKG K420's or Philips SHP-5401s (PC use, mostly)?

At first I thought I'd buy the AKG K420s but since I've come across the Philips SHP5401s (as far as I know they are the same as SHP5400s only in a different color, at least they look nearly the same) I don't know which ones to choose. SHP5401s are said to be surprisingly good for the price but...
