Have you tried the 660s2 with an OTL tube amp like the Folkvangr? The WA22 is equally as good; tubes just make them really come to life.

I use them with my Ken-rad 6SN7 and HE-500, I think they sound a little better with planars. 5998 sounds better with my 660s2.

The main thing with gen2 was upgraded transformers and mandatory preamp output. As the site says: "New for 2018 is improved sonic performance and preamplifier feature for use with a Hi-Fi system." You could probably request preamp output be removed during ordering a gen2 if you really wanted...

Has anyone who had Folkvangr repairs noticed a smell of burning plastic prior to it failing? I just started noticing this on mine even though it seems to be operating properly otherwise.

My Bifrost2 and Jot2 have the same differences, the Jot2 is more brushed, and the Bifrost is smooth. The effect is fairly subtle unless sunlight is on them, so it's whatever. The Folkvangr is an identical finish to the Jot2.
