Very strange hd650/600 body swap quesitons
Why are you replacing the cup? Why not just replace the drivers? Then the HD600 housings will match completely (marbled). Its really easy to remove the drivers, just wedge a small flat blade screwdriver in there and pop it out.- JimmyDean

Yet another strange Goodwill find...
What model are those boston acoustic speakers? If they are the Media Theater series, with the 8 inch sub, then they are the best 2.1 system I have ever heard for a computer... The bass response is amazing for that system.- JimmyDean

[help please] grado's grattle
In my opinion the best method is the spoon method. Slide a spoon in the area between the 2 housings and use the taper to spread the halves apart... You could try fixing it by slight sucking on the driver on the cloth side. Keep trying it until you fix the problem.- JimmyDean

Sennheiser/Grado hybrid?
Putting 5xx/6xx drivers in grado housings could be done, but it would be harder... You would have to sand down that little wire channel on the senn drivers, and be VERY careful with the wires... I also don't know what you would do for a cable solution, those tiny wires would have to remain...- JimmyDean

Sennheiser/Grado hybrid?
The spare driver was from an sr-60 that I accidently killed. I would be the first to do this, but it would involve killing some cans . I have working ms-1s and (now) working HD-600s. If anyone has any dead HD580/590/595/600/650s, let me know. Id need some grado/alessandro drivers as well. It...- JimmyDean

Just receieved HD600s, first impressions
Well, for the time being it appears to be fixed. I took some masking tape and gently pulled the driver up. Everything looked good. I played music, bass rattle was still there but not as bad. I gently sucked on the back of the driver, heard a pop, now all is well. I think what happened was that...- JimmyDean

Sennheiser/Grado hybrid?
While looking at my blown right HD600 driver, I found that the SR-60 driver fits perfectly into the hole... This could lead to some interesting hybrids.- JimmyDean

Do these drivers look good? I found something rather interesting while they were out. SR-60 drivers fit perfectly into the hole for the senn driver... Followup in the DIY section.- JimmyDean

Just receieved HD600s, first impressions
There was a small piece of the wire that looked like transducer wire about 1 inch long sticking out the hole... It brushed off, it didnt appear to be attached to anything. As you can see, the driver looks fine...- JimmyDean

Big big problem... tried playing A Perfect Circle's "The Noose"... It sounds like the right driver is blown. On any kind of bass impact there is a horrible distortion... Any suggestions?- JimmyDean

Just got my refurbed HD600s from amazon... Some first impresions are: Man, these are sharp looking. Put them on my head... Hmm they clasp kind of tightly (vice). Wait, these are supposed to be more comfortable than my MS-1s? They aren't - to me. Plug them into the amp im using... The noise...- JimmyDean

Grado/Alessandro Reconditioning
Yea I have, it is a problem with the phones... Its not severe, it just seems like the right side is tiny bit quieter. I have put like 1000 hours on these since I got them, though- JimmyDean

Grado/Alessandro Reconditioning
They seemed to have gone back to how they were, the channel imbalance is back slightly, but they both pop exactly the same. Jam_Master_J - I am not going to even take these apart....- JimmyDean

Grado/Alessandro Reconditioning
My MS1s seemed to have developed (or maybe they have had them forever, I don't know) a channel imbalance. The right channel seemed more faint than the left. I wasnt sure what could have caused this, but there was also a slight grattle in the right channel. I sucked on the cup, and noticed it was...- JimmyDean

What headphones?
I know its another "What should I get thread", but bear with me. I currently have MS-1s, and am about to make a huge upgrade to my system. Im going to be builing a nice M³, so that is my amplifier. My source is my computer with a gadget labs wave 8/24 soundcard. I like the ms-1s, and I suppose I...- JimmyDean

RMAA benchmarks for Sblive24 Bit
I ran my sound card, its a gadget labs wave 8/24. Its supposed to like a recording device, but it has outputs so Im using it like that. I also use it to record vinyl however. The thing is, this thing is natively 24 bit... I read that if you use 16 bit then it will sample 24 bit and dither down...- JimmyDean
