Audeze LCD-4
This is exactly the worry I have. I should explain - I have the 100 ohm LCD-4 and I rate it as the finest HP I have ever owned. Mine work just fine - so the dilemma of having them changed to 200 ohm V2 and sounding "worse" or leaving them as they are and hoping they don't break. Having said...- 29029

Thomann.de ??
Hi all, Thinking of buying a Violectric HPA V281 from these people. They are in Germany - I am in the UK. I have emailed them to various addresses and got no replies at all. Are they still trading? Anyone used them recently?? Apparently the V281 comes with various faceplate, feet, DAC...- 29029

DAC recommendations under 10,000 bucks
I had a similar dilemma a while back. I ended up buying a Resonessence Labs, Mirus. They cost £4500 GBP here, so around $7500 maybe in the US? It bettered anything I heard at any price point.- 29029

Thanks Phil, yes I forgot those 2 things. So 6 things then so far. 1. Volume pot - at deposit stage 2. Colour? 3. Type of feet? 4. Choice of tubes. 5. Voltage 6. Output jacks- 29029

Headamp Blue Hawaii Special Edition
Sorry to go off at a tangent here, but when ordering the BHSE (or should I say when delivery gets nearer - will I live longer than the delivery day...?!), what things need to be specified - options and choices? 1. Volume pot - at deposit stage 2. Colour? 3. Type of feet? 4. Choice of...- 29029

Steve - thanks for your input - i'll have a read up on this. I owned an Apache many years ago - great amp :) Paradoxper - yes you are right. From my research, I'd say you are totally right on both counts. Plenty to think about :)- 29029

Paul and Icebear - thanks for your comments. Really useful food for thought. I guess like a lot of folk, forums get used as a source of information. Here in the UK, I don't know anyone who has any of these boutique amps, let alone anyone who has been through the buying process. My only...- 29029

I actually got most of my concerns (and not just about Headamp) from Headfi and the actual postings by people who had paid deposits. So I felt I was being fair really. Small scale builder does not equal small scale service does it?- 29029

Hi Icebear - yes you understand the "problem". I like the best gear i can get / afford BUT I also value service. Taking your money, ignoring you for months on end and getting the product 1-2 years down the line is simply not good enough. As you say, and is widely acknowledged, the end...- 29029

Hi David - nice to hear from you. Have seen your posts on here - informative. You have a BHSE if i recall - how did you find the process? Mjolnir Audio being 'spritzer' who seems to know a lot about all things Stax. I will try to find out costs and availability, unless he chips in here! ...- 29029

Greetings. Having had dynamic HP set ups for years and had almost every HP/amp combo there is, I have decided to jump back into Stax and go for an SR-009. The choice of amp is the question. Years back I had an O2 / SRM 717 and I preferred the SS energiser to the 007 by quite a margin. ...- 29029

REVIEW : Burson Audio HA-160 with listening impressions
Slight off-topic, but has anyone done any sort of meaningful comparison of the Burson against the Violectric HPA V200 (with onboard DAC) ? The Burson is on my home rig and I'm thinking of the V200 for my work PC and/or lap top. Wondered as I will be using the same cans - whether people...- 29029

Bowers & Wilkins P5 Mobile Headphones Review
Great review Jude. Funny things these P5's - I have picked them up many times in the Apple shop. I don't "need" a pair of these at all - but I sure as heck "want" them ! They ooze style and class - I think coupled with an acceptable sound quality, they hit the spot. Your review...- 29029
