    pencil fi?

I have enjoyed the Pilot Rexgrip series of pencils since the beginning of university. Is there anything high end that compares? They are the smoothest writing, most comfortable pencil I have ever used. I enjoy the thick barrel and how it feels in my hand.  ...

    Firewire crackling

It crackles with any audio, youtube, WoW sounds. How can you adjust the buffers?

    Firewire crackling

It crackles in any audio (music from iTunes) after about 30 mins of the computer being on.

    Firewire crackling

Unfortunately not, only 1 firewire 800 port on this computer. I've tried different cables, I think it has to be a software, or inherent hardware issue.

    Firewire crackling

Hi, my current setup consists of my iMac outputting to my Apogee duet via firewire (800-400 cable). that signal is taken from the Duet to my Burson HA-160 to LCD2 headphones. All of my music is stored on my iMac's internal HD, and nothing external is sharing the firewire bus.    After my...

any EE's can offer insight on this?

Try controlling your volume with the guitar. Turn the guitar way down, then to get the volume you want out of the amplifier you have to turn it up loud. This is enough for me to get the distortion I want and not be kicked out of my apartment building...

Show us your Head-Fi station at it's current state. No old pictures please...

Quote:     The curve you see in the frequency response plot is due to the mechanical resonance of the dynamic driver. I do think that impedance matching is still reasonably important for orthos, an amp, headphone impedance mismatch will create a standing wave which in turn...

LCD-3 or LCD-2 or any other?

Does the SEX 2.1 put enough power into the LCD2's? My understanding is that it's not powerful enough to make your ears bleed.   I'm currently using a Burson HA-160 to drive my LCD2's, but I love the sound of my HD650s with the Crack so I bet a bottlehead + LCD2 combo would be great if the...

US mains frequency to be changed...what will be affected?

It'll make no difference to any audio equipment, and very little difference to clocks because on average you'll spend just as much time ever so slightly below 60Hz as you do ever so slightly above 60Hz.    In most power systems you won't see a solid 60Hz all of the time anyways, frequency...

    Bottlehead + LCD2

Hi, has anyone tried a bottlehead amplifier with LCD2's? Do they sell anything that drives them well?   Thanks...

    Bookshelf speakers

I think I've narrowed it down to either the Vapor Audio Cirrus ($3495USD), or the Harbeth Compact 7 ($3599CAD). Any other contenders that I should be looking at?

american power strip works in australia..?

You could find yourself in serious trouble doing that. If you were moving from Australia to the USA it wouldn't be a problem as frequency shouldn't affect much for the power bar itself and the voltage is lower. You can't rely on your insulation bing good to 250Vac unles the power bar has a stamp...

    Bookshelf speakers

That's the plan. I'm going to mount them on the wall (at an appropriate height) just above my computer.

    Bookshelf speakers

Weird, here in Canada Long & Mcquade sells the 8050a for $2025 CAD, and the BM15A for $2799 CAD.

    Bookshelf speakers

The plan is to upgrade the amplifier eventually, but I believe that the most important part in the chain are the transducers so I'm upgrading them first. The NAD C730 sounds pretty good so I think it's a decent starting point.    I have considered near field active monitors and have looked...

    Bookshelf speakers

Hi, I'm looking to purchase a set of bookshelf speakers. Currently my iMac is feeding an Apogee Duet which in turrn feeds my headphone rig (Burson HA160 and LCD2). The L and R output of the Duet will feed my NAD C370. I'm planning on spending about $3k on speakers. Does anyone have any...

    Audeze LCD-2 Orthos

I believe you're right Soup, amplifiers like this are designed to amplify voltage, and as a result current will flow. If no source of potential energy is present (voltage) no electric field will be generated supplying energy to the free electrons in the conductor causing a flow of electrons and...

    Travel Headphones ?

I own a pair of Bose QC15's for airplane, or other noisy travel. They make air travel much more bearable, albeit not the best sound (not bad though). I have HD650's and LCD-2's (on the way) but don't necessarily want to take them on journeys because of their expense and relative fragility.   ...

Amp for HD650 and Audeze LCD-2

Can you buy pre made beta22 amplifiers? Personally I was leaning either towards a Burson 160, or a WooAudio6 (am very open to other options) but wanted opinion from people with more experience with these cans.

Amp for HD650 and Audeze LCD-2

Hi, I currently own a pair of Sennheiser HD650 headphones and have them connected to the headphone output of my Apogee Duet. I put my name on the pre order list for a set of Audeze LCD-2 headphones and am looking for an amplifier to connect to my Apogee DAC that will drive both of them...
