Audio-GD NFB-12 Optical Not Working
After 5 years of dedicated and very satisfactory use, I decided I would sell my NFB-12 in lieu of an upgrade. But when testing all input options, there was no sound coming through the optical setting. I'm curious if there's any way to troubleshoot whether this is something I could possibly fix...- Jupe

<$100 IEMs for Gym/Active Use
Oh wow, okay, so they're a little pricier than I would have hoped, but thanks for the link! I couldn't find replacements on my own- Jupe

Durable Earbuds?
I'm in a similar situation, seeking the same solution you are Junco, so I have two thoughts: For detachable cables like in the case of the M6 Pro's, is it possible to purchase the cables without the earbuds? I would hope it is a cheaper solution to the constant fraying than buying new sets...- Jupe

<$100 IEMs for Gym/Active Use
Thanks for the feedback! I'm worried about the quality of the JVC's; I appreciate their value, but after going through a few sub-$20 earbuds like candy, I'm hoping to find something durable more than anything. I had no idea detachable cables were even a thing with IEMs; I'll hold onto that...- Jupe

<$100 IEMs for Gym/Active Use
I've tried a plethora of no-name sub-$30 IEMs, all of which fail after a few months' worth of daily usage, regardless of how careful I am with the cables. Some of turbulence just can't be helped, because I run and use the gym just about every day, so I'm looking for something rugged that won't...- Jupe

120 to 160 $ USD headphone for Music and Gaming
I wouldn't expect too many responses too fast. Only the largest forums/threads get a lot of constant attention; the rest of the crowd stays in a sort of flux throughout the day. With that said, it sounds like the ATH M50's are right up your ally. The only drawback is that they don't have an...- Jupe

Upgrade Suggestions from NFB-12
I would consider buying a separate amp just to try one out, but I don't think it would be necessary since my headphones all have such low impedance. The NFB-12 is more than powerful enough for me, but I don't know how it stacks up to the NFB-11- Jupe

Upgrade Suggestions from NFB-12
I have one of the first NFB-12's that were shipped, i.e. before any of the tweaks or additions of filters. It has served me well and continues to perform dutifully with my Ultrasones Pro 900's. I'm curious what's the next step up, in terms of performance and quality. Since I have been so...- Jupe

M50 Mod Suggestions?
To make a long story short, my M50's were worn to a point that needed repair on one side. I got some parts from Audio Technica (mega props to them for mailing them at no cost), and made the repairs. Everything was good for a short while, but the wires in the left cup detached from their solder...- Jupe

Ultrasone Pro 900 Impressions Thread
For years I lurked this thread, just waiting for my chance to participate. Finally, I bought a pair from another Head-Fi'er, and cannot begin to describe my elation. I admit, my anticipation probably overrode any chance for disappointment, but I'm okay with that.- Jupe

Upgrade from M50 (any type)
Quote: I was hoping to get some thoughts on headphones that don't require an amp, since I'm not willing to use a portable one, and don't have a means of easily travelling with a regular desktop amp/dac. So far I'm weighing the options between the Beyer One Pro, V-Moda M100, the...- Jupe

Upgrade from M50 (any type)
I'm curious if anyone has thoughts to offer on the Beyer Custom One Pro? Its hard to dig up too much info because they're pretty new. I've also seen a few suggestions for Monster Turbine Pro's, but having only use over-ear phones, I'm cautious about switching to IEMs. Quote: I'd...- Jupe

Upgrade from M50 (any type)
It's been a looong, looong time since I've posted anywhere, because up until very recently I was 110% satisfied with my ATH M50's. But recently a hinge broke on one of the phones, and I'd like to re-explore upgrading. I had thought about buying more cans a while ago, and had settled on either a...- Jupe

Audio-GD NFB-12
I'm curious what you guys think the first-run 12's are worth now; I've yet to be disappointed with mine, but I honestly don't know how much these filters change the overall sound. Now that money's tight I'm considering selling mine, but I have no idea what a fair price would be, now there are...- Jupe

Audio-GD NFB-12
Wow, seems like I've missed quite a bit since my last visit... I've had the NFB-12 for almost a year now, having been among the first to get my hands on it. Granted, this was my first DAC/amp, so I've had nothing to really compare it to (aside from brief listenings to other people's gear...- Jupe

What's The Best Time Of Year to Buy?
As the title states, I'm basically asking what you fellow head-fiers think would be the best time to buy. I've been checking up on a couple of different headphones, waiting for some spontaneous sale and looking for a trend to follow so that by the time I'm able to pull the trigger, my wallet...- Jupe

Audio-GD NFB-12
I should clarify--the click I'm referring to is part of the actual NFB-12, not reflected in the headphones themselves. I was only curious if anyone else experienced this, since it doesn't make a peep when I turn it on, and it's set to variable or a fixed output.- Jupe

Audio-GD NFB-12
I didn't notice anyone mention this before, but I'm curious.. Does anyone, upon turning the DAC on, hear a small quiet "click" (other than the click of the actual power switch)? This only applies when the DAC is not being used as a preamp, and is set to headphone output. I know this might...- Jupe

Quote: Odd indeed. I haven't felt even the slightest vibration or movement from my unit. I tried putting it on different surfaces to see if there would be a more prominent reverb somewhere, but I felt nothing. On/off, it feels the same. Perhaps you should contact kingwa?- Jupe

Audio-GD NFB-12
Quote: I'm pretty sure those functions are meant for using the NFB-12 as a preamp, when you use the DAC out. With the variable setting, the NFB-12 will still control the volume of the ouput signal. With the fixed setting, the volume knob won't have any effect on the output signal, but...- Jupe

please help! 1 month searching still no headphones :(
Sounds to me like the ATH M50 is right up your alley. I'm you must have seen it mentioned a couple times around here, so [assuming you have] is there anything about it you don't like? The only issue I can see from your description is possibly the 'plastic' look. That's a pretty vague...- Jupe

Audio-GD NFB-12
Quote: It took mine about a week, though I'm on the West coast. I tracked the package like a hawk, and for the first 4-5 days it just seems to circulate in Hong Kong. Once it's reached the states though, it moved pretty fast, and I got mine a day or two ahead of what their estimate was...- Jupe

Audio-GD NFB-12
I thought I would follow Passingthrough's example and update my experience with the NFB-12. With so much speculation about such an (IMO) insignificant amount of noise/artifacts, I hope most of the readers and potential buyers aren't scared off thinking that the NFB-12 might be defected. Even I...- Jupe
