Monster Turbine Pro Copper
Right now I'm not actually THAT impressed (coming from the Visang R03's), but I am using my own eartips and not the supertips that come with the IEMs. Does it make a significant difference in sound? I've found that the highs are quite harsh when my EQ is off on my iphone.- akg101

Shure SRH840 or Audio-Technica ATH-M50
I own both and I prefer the M50's. The bass hits harder.. The treble is a bit lower and the SRH840's may be a bit harsh to some. M50's are more portable, but the earpads are terrible. SRH-840's have more comfortable earpads.- akg101

After listening to FLAC/ALAC I can't go back.
Quote: Completely agree.. I use FLAC for archival, and that's where it pretty much ends for me. I have no problem listening to VBR 192kbps, though.- akg101

After listening to FLAC/ALAC I can't go back.
Quote: I use EAC.. It's the best program I've used. To be completely honest, I can't hear much of a difference (if at all) between a good quality MP3 encode and FLAC. Those saying they can 100% of the time are full of it imo. Music quality is still highly subjective in an ABX...- akg101

Help for a buddy? SRH840s v. ATH M50s
I just got my M50's.. Had the SRH840's for a while now.. I honestly prefer the M50's, and mine aren't even broken in.. Keep in mind that I listen to a lot of hip-hop, soul & rnb, so I think it's more well suited to my musical tastes than someone who may listen to heavy metal or...- akg101

Just listened to the M50's...
Sometimes a phone just cannot drive even the M50's.. I experienced the same thing when I tried out the M50's and the SRH840's.. They just don't sound impressive on my iPhone.. but on my PC, it's a totally different story.- akg101

Shure SRH840 vs Audio Technica ATH-M50 vs Shure SRH750dj
Quote: I own the 840's and my M50's are on the way (but I have had a lot of experience with them) and I can tell you that this is false. The 840's are great, as are the M50's.. But they just sound different. The m50's have better high & low end than the 840's imo.. ...- akg101

Shure SRH440: First Impressions (and my first real contribution to the forum)
Quote: I think this is very genre-dependent.. I own the SRH-840's and while they are generally more well-rounded, the M50 does perform noticeably better in the low end, and to be honest I enjoyed their highs a bit more than the 840's as well.. Tracks that have a lot of...- akg101

++ FULL-SIZE HEADPHONE RECOMMENDATIONS THREAD++ CLOSED: Please post a thread in the Introductions, Help and Advice forum
So I just bought a pair of Shure SRH-840's and I'm wondering.. Do they have a break-in period like the M50's do? The sound is decent out of the box but it's nothing mindblowing..- akg101

BAM!! ATH-M50's go up to $145!!
Jesus, I feel so stupid.. I hesitated in getting them from B&H and now they're backordered/sold out. Talked to BrianF @ Proaudiomart and he told me he won't take anything less than $125 as an offer. Could have had them from B&H for ~$140 shipped. Costs about $30 to ship them from the...- akg101
