Budget DAC w/ optical?
Hey yall been out of the game for a long time, not really sure what is on the market these days... My DAC-AH just kicked the bucket (making all kinds of hissing/popping noises when connected) and I need a replacement DAC for my mac mini. My path is Mac mini optical out --> DAC --> Little...- bpm2000

interchangeable cable IEMS
Sorry if this has been beat to death, search string "interchangeable cable" and "removable cable" didn't come up with much, Other than the IE8, what other portables/IEMs allow for changing out cables? I have spent a lot of $$$ on earbuds, IEMS, and other portables over the years and they ALL...- bpm2000

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
Well finally spent some time with the completed (for now) setup. I was never much for super high $$$ but try to edge out with bang-for-the-buck type components. I'm feeding the HD650s (bought used! budget-fi!) with a macbook (FLACs) optical out->DAC-AH->LD MKV. I considered my jump into...- bpm2000

DAC to receiver/headamp... switching solution?
I tried to search but honestly was lost on what search string I should be using. Anyways, I am using a macbook optical out into my Lite DAC-AH. It only has one set of outputs which was originally going to my A35R receiver but now that I have a MKV I switched the cables to that. Is there some...- bpm2000

Anyone still using Cute Beyond or Travagan amps?
let us know how it sounds! also should add - is there a DIY amp that might fall in a similar price range ($~200) that would also suffice? Of course this is taking into account builder fees since I dunno how to .- bpm2000

Anyone still using Cute Beyond or Travagan amps?
I am looking for a budget solid state amp for my HD650. Don't care to mess w/ tubes and enjoy the accuracy of solid state over tubes anyways. Anyone know how a cute beyond stacks up vs a Travagan Red? Any longer-term impressions? thx- bpm2000

About to order ER6i's; convince me I should get something ELSE.
Again, I'm no basshead but I found the er6i to be sorely lacking in the bass department. I would not be listening to any hiphop/rap with them.- bpm2000

Bass or Electric Guitar
The trouble with trying out instruments when you have no comparison/experience to draw from is that oft you won't know what feels "right". That said, I would still go try some out, but what you like now may not be so a year or two later down the road when you got it more figured out. edit: I...- bpm2000

V-moda Vibes... The review is finished. (56k beware, big pics...)
anyone having some sort of static "pop" or "shock" issues with these? I have the chrome version, and I thought maybe it was just my mp3 player (iriver s10) but listening out of the computer headphone out seems to do this as well. OUCH I just got shocked twice just now! This cant be normal...- bpm2000

V-moda Vibes... The review is finished. (56k beware, big pics...)
So ive had more time with em now, more impressions. First, I'm either just too used to the in-head sound from earbuds but the sound from the vibes seem "distant" to me. This is not necessarily a bad thing, and seems to resemble a bit of soundstage in iems! but I am having a hard time...- bpm2000

V-moda Vibes... The review is finished. (56k beware, big pics...)
I am finding the vibes isolation to be just perfect for me. I stopped using the er6i a while ago because I couldn't stand the weird feeling of not being able to hear anything around me and the microphonics. The vibes isolate much better than earbuds, but I can still hear things going on around...- bpm2000
