Leaving portable hifi - it's too silly

Quote: I don't agree with power hungry headphones sounding good from an iPod. My 600ohm Beyerdynamic's sound awful straight out of my Cowon J3.

What should I convert my FLAC music to for my Zune?

Depending on your free space use CBR if you can, variable bit rate files are smaller. I'm fairly sure AAC files are more compressed than MP3 too.

Leaving portable hifi - it's too silly

I think it's easy for people to get sucked in to the concept of having to have an amp in their portable setup in order for it to sound good. It's sort of going against the purpose of "portability".

Looking for desktop amp to replace FiiO E7/E9

After doing some research and taking the replies from this thread into consideration, I think I'll be better off saving for a higher end amp so I'll stick with the E7/E9 combo for now. Thank you all for the feedback.

Looking for desktop amp to replace FiiO E7/E9

Thanks for the suggestions yifu, but I'm wanting to stick with solid state.    I came across this http://www.emu.com/products/product.asp?category=610&subcategory=611&product=20347 after browsing the forums for people in my situation. Would that act the same way as the E7/E9?

Looking for desktop amp to replace FiiO E7/E9

Hi everyone, I'm still pretty new to audio in general so I would really appreciate some help on finding a desktop amp that suits my needs. At the moment I'm using the FiiO E7/E9 combo to power my AKG K702's. This combo does a great job of providing the K702's with enough power, but I know...

    Amp for K701

Friendly bump. I'd also like to know about solid state amps that perform well with the K701. I'm currently using the E7/E9 combo, but searching for that little bit more.

Looking for a good CD player.

I'm looking for a good ~$200 CD player (used or new)  that's capable of amping my HD 600's well. I'll only be playing CD's so PMP compatibility isn't needed. I'm very new to the concept of audio so please excuse my lack of knowledge. All suggestions would be appreciated, cheers.

Ten CDs to Introduce New Listeners to Classical Music

Please excuse me if this isn't classical, but to my untrained ear Sun Kil Moon is very easy listening and somewhat classical.     Carly Comando is also really good.
