Most comfrotable headphones?
Id stay away from tube until you're in the 400+ range... Amps are all opinion in the 100-300 range. The true differences don't show themselves until later up the price line. IMO go solid state.- TabooPc

Most comfrotable headphones?
I find most of the comfort of headphones comes from the weight, and how the headband fits your head. I would say beyers are generally pretty comfortable. The wood denons are a little heavier, but the 2000 model should be lighter than the ones I had. I would put them at a tie. Though the...- TabooPc

Audiophile in training. Help?
Quote: Most music is 16/44, unless you've specifically downloaded it higher. I don't think they even put 24/96 on cds. (atleast not average ones). HDtracks.com has a ton of albulms in high quality, 24/96 +. To be honest I don't believe that there is an audible difference between 16/44 and...- TabooPc

Bright-Full Range Headphones
I wouldn't call the 880 punchy. Its very bright, yes, but not very punchy. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said "Grado 225is". Bright and punchy is something that describes that headphone very well. From what I heard, the m50 would have a lot of bass, not necessarily...- TabooPc

Best headphone & amp for ambient music
I remember the bass on the 701 being similar to the 880. Have you heard of subtractiveLAD? Would you consider that atmospheric?- TabooPc

Audiophile in training. Help?
My brother has the HD598, whenever someone wants a recommendation for a first audiophile headphone, that is the one I give. IMO, for the price, it beats the rest of the competition. The first thing I would say, is steer clear of amps until you really know the sound of your headphone well...- TabooPc

Entry Tubes for HD800, Toning them down?
Thanks for the replies. I hope to tube roll my next tube amp into a warmer direction. I feel like the HD800 is just really under-powered by my LittleDotMKV SS amp.. I like the sound of it right now, but I think with some power they would be amazing. At the last meet I went to...- TabooPc

Hifiman sent me HE-6s, I ordered HE-300s.
I mean even without an amp they're going to sound better than the HE-300s with the best amp the world has to offer... But still, its not right.- TabooPc

Clearly they made a mistake, so its good that you're asking them what you should do. Keeping them and feeling good about it seems a little... Bad. IMO I would return them. GL mate- TabooPc

Good headphones under £100?
+1 to the Sennheiser HD-5XX series. IMO the best headphones for the money currently on the market. Lots of people would say low end grados, like the sr60, but I feel like you still get a ton more from the sennheisers. If you've never spent a ton of time listening to audiophile...- TabooPc

Yeah I may mess around with that mod. But for now I need a better amp to drive the hd800s too! Note: I don't dislike the treble, just wish it was a tiny tiny bit less sharp.- TabooPc

Will the Xonar ST fit in my PC?
Very true. PCI actually has a bandwidth of 133 MB/s, when PCI-E has 500 MB/s. By express they do mean quicker. xD (PCI-e x16 @ 8000 MB/s) Also: This should be in the source section, not the amp section!- TabooPc

Will the Xonar ST fit in my PC?
Its a PCI card, which means yes, if you have the bottom slot free, it will fit. Edit: Wanted to clarify more. A typical low-mid quality sound card would just fit in a PCI Express x1 slot, which is that tiny (Usually black) slot. PCI is longer (still shorter than a graphics card...- TabooPc

Entry Tubes for HD800, Toning them down?
Hello Headfi, I recently sold my Mid/upper-Fi phones (Hd650, K702, Dt880 600ohm, AH-D5000) to get a pair of HD800's. So far I am extremely happy as they are far superior headphones (in my opinion at least). They are really everything I expected, and more. Anyways, to the...- TabooPc
