yea as far as beyer goes the more ohms the better SQ. So a dt 770 600ohm would be better than the 80ohm version

yea i think you should look else where than Grados. You should consider the Ultrasone HFI 780s or something in the Beyerdynamics line up. I was looking for some cans for hip hop (like you were) and I ended up buying some beyer dt770s and I just bought an amp for them last night. I have my beyers...

Haha your almost persuading me to trade my beyers dt770s in for the shures. lol Its been awhile since I heard the shure 840s (I know they are great phones tho). Have you heard the beyer 770s, if so do you think the srh840s are better?
