Denafrips Arce
I have the Iris and did not put it on my Arce/Pontus 2 12th combo and did not feel it was needed and put the Iris on my Alo bridge/Schiit Yggdrasil where I think it is better suited.- wirewiggler

ZMF Aegis Official Thread
It has always been my feeling a well designed circuit does not need boutique components to sound good, and like you say some boutique parts have poor quality control and longevity. I have built several Nelson Pass designs, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between stock and...- wirewiggler

Searching portable music player/buds for swimming. Got questions for users (if any)
I have not tried Bluetooth while swimming, I-tried bone conduction headphones under water and they sounded awful , but I love them for bicycle riding. The little player h2O audio sells is not expensive and it has outlasted 2 Apple shuffles that were waterproofed that cost more and did not sound...- wirewiggler

Searching portable music player/buds for swimming. Got questions for users (if any)
I am using the H2audio custom buds, the fit is excellent and when I accidentally pinched a wire in my case I was able to just replace the earbuds and reuse the custom molded end. Sound is ok for swimming and not sure where I got my current player but it is a dedicated water player and it works...- wirewiggler

Denafrips Arce
I would have to say the Arce has issues with DSD files. I play strictly PCM files without issue, don’t have any DSD files to ck on it.- wirewiggler

That was my first Schiit product, the Second was a Jotunheim - still have it. This was their first Jotunheim and has a the multibit dac in it, I don’t use it and will let it go reasonably. I have a Bifrost and Yggdrasil - all great products. Bill- wirewiggler

Comment by 'wirewiggler' in item 'Schiit Mjolnir 3 Desktop Class A Headphone Amp'
If you were to inquire to Schiit they would tell you it is proprietary, basically it is marketing hype. Thought it may be unique to them but probably not patentable. Not to say it is not relevant Jason is always putting little twist in his designs that making improvements to conventional designs...- wirewiggler

Aegis DIY Tube Headphone Amplifier
For years I used electricians scissors, those things are so sharp I accidentally cut a finger badly. I can’t imagine the amp has a wiring route issue if you followed the diagrams in the instruction, a second set of eyes check your work.- wirewiggler

DIY Raspberry Pi - Dac - HDD - 7" Display in a Stereo Component Case
The pi / dac hat is an affordable solution that offers decent sound quality, however a really nice milled case is probably going to cost 5 or 6 times the cost of the pi dac itself, and I think at that point the money would be better spent on a superior compute / dac solution. The pi even with a...- wirewiggler

amplifier poor sound quality with sub 10 ohm iem's problem
Yep it is a design choice by the manufacturer. Different designs have inherent limitations on output impedance. Jason at Schitt is always coming out with different headphone amps designs, there are always pros and cons . I like that he likes to experiment with different designs and not stick...- wirewiggler

Roon Optimization Guide For Increased Sound Quality
After using Roon for close to 5 years I built up a new server in a fan less case and went from a Nash server to a usb drive. It is medium size I5 with 16 meg memory with solid state drive. Sounds the same as my old server. I run a Yaggrisil dac on one endpoint and Pontos II on another, other...- wirewiggler

I really like the Teflon coated wire Apex jr sells have used it for years but it is a pain to strip. I rotate the stripper 90 degrees and make 3 cuts on the insulation before I try to remove it.- wirewiggler

Denafrips Arce
Same here have been listening for 3 months. I don’t understand how some one who does not actually owned one can be so critical. As a Roon bridge it improved the sound from a Allo bridge with a DDS considerably .I use it with a Pontus 12 strait into my Aegis headphone amp and I could not be more...- wirewiggler

Comment by 'wirewiggler' on listing 'Balanced Focal Utopia Cardas Cable'
Is that the same connectors used on the Stellia? I am in the process of buying a used pair and not sure if it comes with balanced cable. That price sounds right I was looking at that wire and it is crazy exspensive. Bill- wirewiggler

Wow, If I had not just bought a Schitt Yggdrasil and Mjolnir3 I would jump on these, my wife complains about my open headphones. I doubt it but if they are still here in a month I will buy them. Bill- wirewiggler

Aegis DIY Tube Headphone Amplifier
In the past I did not do to much tube rolling on my speaker system, I purchased as good of tube as I could afford (usually NOS). With the Aegis I find I roll tubes based on the headphones I am listening to, this allows me to avoid upstream processing. I also discovered I prefer running my...- wirewiggler

Laptop streaming vs dedicated streamer?
To me the Arse streamer sounded better with its I2S into my Pontus dac. I will be upgrading to a Schiit Yggdrasil and using my Allo bridge, Since I have a Denafrips Iris dds I will compare using the Allo direct into the unisom and the DDS into the spdif port. I purchased the Yggdrasil because I...- wirewiggler

Aegis DIY Tube Headphone Amplifier
I was surprised I was able to hear much difference between the 5691 and the Jan 6sl7 but on my Hd820s there seemed to a little more low bass and a little more detail on the top end. I was a little concerned I wanted to hear the Meze Emppyreans but I took a stab at an open box set, turned out...- wirewiggler

"Should I rip my CDs to my PC?"
I currently have my media files on a Qnap server connected to my Roon Rock through a gigabyte switch. I wonder if it would be better to just move the files to a USB drive connected directly to the Roon Rock? I have also been hesitant to use Roon Ark for fear of opening a port to be hacked back...- wirewiggler

"Should I rip my CDs to my PC?"
I ripped all mine and use Roon with Qbuz for almost three years. Have lost isp a few times so was pleased I still had local library. I am not sure how it works out for the artist repayment, I do want to make sure they get paid so they will have incentive to continue to produce new work.- wirewiggler
