well I picked up the fiio e18, and the dt990. its...... ok. it is loud enough for me with the gain on low up to 9 out of 9, and bass on. it gets more on the h gain and 7 out 9 and bass (after 7 only distortion no real gain in volume just gets sloppy.) on or of depending on music. it does work...

I was trying to find a dac amp comb, to fit my constant moving needs, I hear  that the e12 is a brute and can drive most things. if only they could pair that to a dac in one unit an E18++ it would be an easy choice form me. being im buying blind still hoping some had experience be for I buy in...

i paid 320 pounds (UK) which is about 535 usd or 572 aud. so for once something was cheaper in the uk. for me a the portability was key and a dame fine dac. the duet is both a portable headphone amp (kind of) and a good, sorry great Dac. will link up direct to a pair of active moniters...
